4 Star Wars titles came out for the 2600 system: The Empire Strikes Back, Jedi Arena, Death Star Battle and SW: The Arcade Game. There's also the prototype title that was never produced Ewok Adventure. Which of the 4 offical titles is your fav?

I'm stunned there aren't more fans of Death Star Battle. I love that game - when I got back into console collecting, retrieving a copy of that title was a very high priority for me, simply because I wanted to play it like there was no tomorrow. And I love those almost-musical sound effects!

I had to say Empire.

I played that game to DEATH when I was young man. Plus it helps that the Battle of Hoth is my favorite Star Wars battle.

The Jedi Arena was fun, but the computer got REAl cheap, REAL quick, and I couldn't find anyone who'd play it with me, everyone else hated it.

Death Star Battle, I never played untill I got the ROM and UAE... I'm not impressed with it... 2 really short, not very fun games in one, yay

Arcade, once again, never played it untill I got the ROM and UAE... Man, if the actual cart and system are as flickery/jittery as the emulated version, I can't believe ANYone would buy that.
But I sincerely believe (hope?) that it's just the emulator.

I'm not an anti-emu snob. I'm really not. But you just haven't gotten the full Death Star Battle experience without the real cart and a real live 2600 joystick. I like Empire too - it's probably my second favorite - but DSB is one of those games that may seem hard to appreciate in hindsight with just an emu ROM. :)

I put TESB mainly becaus eI have that cart and I used to play it like no tommorrow when I was a kid. When I got into emulation I discovered Death Star Battle and loved it! That's one cart I'd like to find sometime.

I wasn't too crazy about Death Star Battle. It seemed to me that you were so constricted to such a small area of movement... just not what you think when you think about the vast expanse of the Star Wars universe. The arcade game would be second on my list. My favorite by a mile though, is Empire Strikes Back. To this day it's one of the most intense gaming experiences around. So simple in nature but requiring both strategy (do I blast the flashing spot on the 2nd walker and risk not taking out the lead one quickly enough? Or do I slow down the first few and work from the back of the line?) AND fast reflexes. Yeah, I'll take that one.

Oh, a little tip for you Empire fans to help intensify the experience:

Crank up the appropriate tracks from the movie soundtrack of the same name. Trust me, it does help. :D

(Not recommended for those with blood pressure issues.)

Figured we could revive this poll seeing some members got Ewok Adventure and perhaps compare it to the other Atari 2600 SW titles.

(Possibly to move this to the main forum temporarily to give it a 2nd wind?)

ewok plays pretty nicely, its a more complicated game than most 2600 titles, part of the reason it was never released. the PB execs couldnt get the hang of it, although the test market kids did. you need to read the manual and give it about 15 mins to get the feel of it. then it becomes pretty addicting, the better your gliding skills get the better you'll do. its a very different sort of game but i'd tie it with ESB. its freely available as a ROM on AA btw.

Is the Ewok Adventure we have online (which according to our sources was "released" at Eurocon 2001) the same game as the one you guys produced for NECG last weekend?

Curious.

no, the online ROM is based on a PAL version. ours is from the NTSC pb lab loaner, found by joe in boston. there are a few differences between them IIRC but as i do not play emus i'm not aware of them. probably color and speed.

Put me on the list of Death Star lovers.... dodge and zap tie fighters while waiting for the sheild to be disabled.... and then blast the hell outta the Death Star!!!!!!!!!!! More power to Death Star Battle!!!!!!!

What would be a rarity rating possible for Ewok Adventure now?

I had to pick ESB as my favorite for sentmental reasons (well, that and the game kicks ass), but DSB is a very close second.

I like Empire Strikes back because of the Movie. Best in the Trilogy.
