I'm sure everyone has turned out the lights to make games like Silent Hill seem more environmental, but when you were younger, did you ever do silly things to make the game seem more real?

Back when I was in 5th grade, I used to sit down and play Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards in an old ratty blazer I called my "lesiure suit." What effect this had on the game remains to be seen, but I always used to slip it on before firing up the ol CGA monitor :)

I play Dead or Alive: Xtreme Volley Ball nude with a towel over my lap.

Amateur!

You're supposed to play *EVERY* video game naked with a towel over your lap.

Playing games naked with a towel over your lap is a way of life!

Well, this applies mainly to movies, but sometimes when I watch the Indiana Jones movies I like to wear my fedora to make it seem more authentic. I also do this when I play Indiana Jones and the Emporer's Tomb.

When I was a young tike (30 some years ago) we would drape a large blanket over the tv and some chairs to make a tent box. We then would hook in our Atari 2600 and play Star Raiders or Starmaster. The Pilot would get the joystick and the copilot would either get the numerical controller for Star Raiders or would get to flick the toggle for Starmaster. After the original Battlestar Galactica came out General Mills offered a send away card board box Viper control console. We then cut holes in this so that the 2600 and joysticks would fit through. My parents thought we were loony

Noobs, you're supposed to play vidoegames naked WITHOUT a towel over your lap!. The towel is only for typing and maybe playing a PC FPS, but that's pushing it.

sometimes I lean my chair to correspond with what's happening on the screen when I play my roller coaster sims... and of course I ride with no hands... but I wish I had a real motion simulation unit to do all the chair movements for me... cause I still can't get my chair do any inversions!

- Whenever I played Pitfall II on the 2600 I always liked to play Rush's song "Xanadu" because it seemed to fit the game well:

To seek the sacred river Alph
to walk the caves of ice...

So there I was, imagining I was Pitfall Harry looking the Pleasure Dome of Kublai Khan.

- This doesn't quite rise to the level of "naked with a towel over my lap", but I've got a bit of a thing for wearing bandannas commando/pirate style on my head when I'm alone in my Rooma Dooma. I've got a many different colors appropriate for the game at hand: black for Metal Gear, red for Spider-Man games, desert camo for Dune, etc and why the hell am I telling this to total strangers?!

I usually jump back and forth from laying on my bed and sitting on the floor, depends on how into the game I get.

I've never watched Futurama, but I saw that clip on Youtube a while back and the first thing I thought was "OMG he's describing me in 10th grade!",`ceptin that it was a 2-liter bottle of Dr Pepper...

I play all my games completely nude, no towels. Sometimes I pop in God of War 2, go out into my goat pen (not nude I'm wearing shoes at this point) and find the closest axe. Once I have slaughtered the poor defenseless animal, I draw upsidedown crosses with goats blood on my chest and howl at the moon until the gods release my spirits. I come back into the house nude + dripping with goat blood, say hi to my roommates (for some reason they never say hi back) and sit down on the newspaper i put down on the floor, and press play. Videogames are the best, you should see what I do before I play grand theft auto lol.

[to people who don't have a morbid sense of humor, I don't actually do any of this stuff and its suposed to all be a joke.]

When I was little, I would play 1080 Snowboarding (N64) with my winter cap on.

Before I play Resident Evil, I chop up the neighbors and feed the zombies in the pit beneath the padlocked trapdoor underneath my rug. They don't get ideas as long as you keep them happy and remind them that a headshot will always take them down.

I've done tents, lights out, all that jazz. But when I was young, I had Star Wars Tie Fighter for my Packard Bell pos. I would actually wear my hockey helmet during the missions, and had a joystick and it would give me a pretty big great feeling when after a mission, i took off my helmet, held it by my side, wiped the real sweat off my forehead and proceeded to the next mission briefing.

great game!

I used to tie this black sheet to the shelves over my gigantic window in my old room, so the sun wouldn't reflect off my TV while playing a game. My Mother used to demand that I take it down and being the rebellious teen that I was, refused to and continued playing Alundra in the darkness.

You've never watched Futurama? You owe it to yourself to check the show out, but avoid the game like you're avoiding the Noid.

I wear a hockey mask when I play Splatterhouse. I wore a Michael Myers mask and a blue jumpsuit once while playing Halloween, but it was kind of hard to do. Also, you play as Laurie, so it wouldn't matter, lol

Haha, you guys are pretty hardcore.

I don't think I've ever done anything to correspond with the game I'm playing o_O

Closest I could think of is when I was wearing my LaDainian Tomlinson jersey and started playing NFL 2k5 with the Chargers, and gave him the ball about 80% of the time.

the more recent one for me was Halloween. I was wearing my (mostly self-crafted) Darth Vader costume to dish out treats for neighborhood kids, but between that I was playing Doom (really gives you creeps in the dark) and felt it would be just to give the Lego Star Wars II demo a spin. Trust me, with that suit you're always feelin' the power.

I eat psilocybic mushrooms before playing a mario game.

Well actually i dont, but you gotta admit that would be environmental :)

I dyed my hair pink and made it spikey after playing Tombi... Is that kind of the same? I just wanted someone to say something like: "Is your hair supposed to be that colour? Hmm, oh well, doesn't matter..."

I wish I had a pig...

(No, not a spider-pig either! Lol!)

My friend and I used to drape a black sheet over the monitor and put on motorcycle helmets and play NASCAR Racing and US Navy Fighters. One time I even tried rigging up a pee tube (like they use in fighter jets) with a coke bottle, but it didn't work out too well, so I decided not to make a mess like it probably would have :P .

To tell the truth, its hard to concentrate on the game. Lets not go into detail on how I know this, mmmk?ROFL

I imagine eating shrooms would be kind of redundant when playing "Super Mario Brothers" wouldn't it?

I can only imagine what Lloyd Bridges character from "Aiplane!" would do.

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit eating shrooms."

(Plays SMB and sees the first Goomba in the game)

"He's coming right at me!" :::runs away screaming and jumps out window:::

When I play Densha de Go! (train driving simulator) I stack up a couple of large boxes so the train controller is at a good arcade level height and point a fan at my face. It gets bad when I start rocking on my feet and leaning in the direction of curves. LOL

When I play The Blue Marlin I sit in my office chair that leans back and have a tendancy to talk like Quint from Jaws... I rotate the chair with the action on screen - mind you this is an NES game... Maybe it's a good thing I haven't picked up a copy of Sega Marine Fishing yet.
