I know the Elite has HDMI going for it, and a bigger hard drive, but does it justify the extra expense?
Oh, and I'm getting a 360, one or the other, on Tuesday. Yay! :)

If you own an HDTV with HDMI, I would say yes. HDMI is quite the step above component or even VGA for that matter. The Black levels are way more defined via HDMI, at least on my set. Black looks much better than white in my opinion as well. :)
Can't go wrong with the extra space, you may never need it but it's better to be prepared. I need to juggle my free space quite a bit with demos and everything.

If you plan on buying alot of games, or downloading alot of demos or movies, definitly get the elite. I got an elite myself (Eventhough I have yet to get the transfer cable...if any of you have that please let me know!) and I can tell you that the regular 20 gigs fills up really fast, and it becomes a real pain in the ass always deleting stuff to make room for new things. I also like hdmi because now I can have my wii ps3 and 360 all hooked up at the same time since my tv only has 2 component inputs, that alone makes it worth it for me.

I say get the elite. the extra disk space. I have been rotating my demos and I really hate deleting some. I sit around wishing I had more space but the hd by itself is too much money. Demos are coming down alot larger 1.3 gig and I hate deleting ones I like. Hell if I had the 120 life would be sweet at least for a while longer. That is not counting sweet video trailers and such. I also worry if I delete a demo will I be able to get it back later. I think they are starting to pull some.

If your set has 2 HDMI inputs, definitely grab an HDMI cable for your PS3. $9 shipped from monoprice is the best $9 you'll spend for your PS3. :)

If you don't have a 360 yet get the elite.

I'm surprised several of you are finding 20 gigs not enough. I have around 20 XBLA games purchased, several game demos, 2 of the videos that came preloaded on it, and a couple cd's worth of music and I still have 9 gigs or so free.
I don't think you'll find the the larger hd necessary unless you anticipate buying a lot of television shows off the marketplace.

Yeah, the premium is good enough for me. I just got an hdtv too but I don't really see any point in upgrading Unless you plan on building a collection of demos on your 360 hdd, the 20gb drive is big enough. And does anyone actually download movies from the marketplace?

The consensus I'm getting is that the Elite isn't worth the upgrade, but is worth the extra $80 if its your first system. Plus, the Elite upscales DVDs via HDMI. Elite, a winner is you.

I don't have a 360 yet, I'm going to get one in a few months but I'm still not entirely sure on which one to go with. I'm stuck with dialup so I won't be downloading anything to the HDD and I plan to hook it up to my LCD monitor since I don't have an HDTV. The Premium is cheaper but the color will stand out (black monitor/computer/etc). With the Elite though there's no need to worry about running out of space. How much space do 360 and Xbox game saves take up anyways?

That's the first I've heard of this. I think your information might be wrong. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I've only bought 1 TV show so far, but with demos, tons of the arcade games and several profiles I've already used up 45 GB of space. I'm glad I didn't buy the premium and got an elite. Also, I'm about to start using the marketplace a lot more with the HD movie downloads because I'm sick of blockbuster so the extra space will be even more important to me soon.

I have an Elite and it does indeed upscale DVD's via HDMI.

I don't think you'd want to watch dvd's thru the 360 dvd player. I remember reading an article on Xbox-Scene several months ago that compared images from the 360's dvd player to a standard component dvd player. I'm no AV phile but to me the 360 screens looked like crap compared to the component player and their final verdict on the 360 player was basically that it's junk. I don't think upconverting with HDMI will change that.

Elite.
Trust me - you will need the extra HD space.
And I have this fondness for black consoles. And from what I hear, the elites aren't near as problematic as their white modeled counterparts.

It is not that 20 gigs is not enough. I like to keep demos that
i don't buy to give them a chance later. I also like to keep videos like the gears trailer and gta4 and all this little stuff adds up(for me)

Right! Some may not know this but some demos are not available forever and it's nice to have the space to store them on.

Hi there,
I've been thinking of getting a 360 for xna alone and I figure I might need the larger HD space of the Elite. Let's say for argument sakes that I use up all the space on the Elite. Can I not back this data up to my PC? Would I have to buy another HD and plug it in when I want to use it like we do memory cards for the PS2?

I'd say it depends on how much HDMI and the hard drive space matter to you. 20 gigs can last a while if you don't download videos and demos that often(or keep them that often), but if you're big on various media it runs out quick.

i download lots of arcade games, always get the latest demos and i havea dozen albums ripped on my 20 gig HD, and it never fills up. Get rid of the demos when the real fucking game comes out and you wont have a problem. Who the fuck still has the NHL 07 demo?
But if you think the extra space is worth it, get the elite.

Two separate HD's wouldn't work. Your Xbox profile can only be dedicated to one HD at a time. However, you could have a different profile for each HD.

Anyone have one? If you used this product it seems the larger HD isn't needed. Then again the blue laser glow might look good with the black color of the Elite :)
It would be wonderful if you could plug this into a wireless router via USB and it was automatically shared with your PC. Then you wouldn't have to have it connected to the PC all the time.

Alright, I ended up getting a Premium. I got:
Premium - $399
Universal Remote (now I can just have one remote for tv and Xbox) - $20
4000 MS Points - $50
Camera bundle including:
XBL Camera
12 Month Live Subscription
Uno
Robotron 2084
200 MS Points
Headset (yeah, now I have two)
$79 (a good deal, I thought, since a 12 month Live sub is $49 by itself)
Total cost after tax (bought everything at Circuit City) - $577.
Whew. A lot of money. But hopefully it will be worth it.
Time to go hook everything up!

Dude? If you manage to fill 120 GB through XNA, you're doing something seriously wrong.
Besides, the source code and media will still be stored on the PC you're using to code.

I've decided to get an Elite, it's perfect for me since my monitor has an unused DVI port, larger HDD, and the color matches my black/silver desktop.
