There's a guy I know that has one for sale for $25 right now. I'm sure that's probably a good price for it, but I can't think of any amazing SMS titles off the top of my head because no one really talks about this system much. What should I do?

Go for it. The SMS has some great games, like Phantasy Star, Wonder Boy III, and Space Harrier, among many others. There were a lot of pretty good games that were only released in Europe, and the nice thing about the SMS is that it's compatible with almost all PAL games (and you get to play them in proper 60 Hz no less).

Does the system come with anything, or is it just the console only?

Sega Master system rocks. Alf, Alex Kidd in Shinobi World and sonic are my current favs. If you dont have it get it.. SEGA!!!

Shinobi was excellent on the master system. There were a lot of great games on it. Rambo first blood part 2 is one of the better and most underrated games on it, its a whole lot like ikari warriors on the nes. Zillion, gangster town, rescue mission(it is probably the best light gun system of all time).
It's easily worth the 25. If it comes with controllers and maybe even a light phaser then it's a steal and you should grab it up.

It depends. I usually pay about $30 when I buy an SMS, but that's when it also includes a selection of good games. If you're really after one, then go for it because they aren't all that common-- so it's not like you'll be running across them on a regular basis. However, although a lot of the decent games come quite cheap, you will likely have to go the eBay route in order to get them. That is unless you have a very good classic game store in your area-- because the system was not overly popular, so it's tough to come across the games at flea markets and thrift shops. So as long as you don't mind going this route to find games, then it's definitely worth considering. But if you miss out on it, don't feel too bad. It's a fair price, but not enough to make it a mandatory purchase.

If you are buying it for personal use, go for it. It's getting tougher and tougher to find SMS stuff in the wild (especially functioning systems), and you're going to pay no less than $40 shipped for just a system on ebay.

There are plenty of great games for it, too. Buy it!

If you have a model one genesis though you may rather consider a power base converter and just save the plug in space especially if you don't plan on getting many games for it. Just make sure you have get a master system controller for the few games that will only work with them though

Go for it, The master system is & was a great system.
The MK1 (the long slim one) has a card slot that allows you to play card games & use the 3D glasses. The MKII doesnt have the card slot.
There is an extensive selection for games (especially in Europe) & two good things : 1) games are mainly cheap 2) there is NO regional restrictions on the console, so no need for modding or adapters.

Plus if you want games let me know as I have quite a few duplicates.

Ok, well from what I can remember I looked briefly and it came with 2 controllers and a light gun. And from your description it is a MK I. I also forgot that the SMS is still really popular in Brazil, right? Can it play those games too?
