Playstation 2 DVD player help Part 2.

The problem I had is the PS2 not displaying widescreen movies correctly. I have a 4:3 TV and widescreen movies look stretched out. I feel like everyone looks like Bert from Bert and Ernie.
I changed the settings to 4:3 on the PS2. But when I play a DVD movie, and I go to the video settings by pressing "select", the video mode still reads 16:9. And for whatever reason, it won't let me change it. Anything I'm doing wrong? Is the PS2 busted?

just incase, perhaps you have your tv settings on some kind of zoom or stretch picture?

happens on two different TV's, and dvd's played on Xbox look fine.

Suggestion:

Save yourself the headache and go get a cheap DVD player. Problem solved.

But this problem boggles my mind. It will eat at me weather I get another DVD player or not.

You may have an outdated or buggy DVD driver in your PS2. So no matter if you have already changed the setting to 4:3, the picture would still be in 16:9 when playing on the PS2.
