Does anyone know of a good source of coupons for Vegas restaurants and buffets? I've been Googling this morning without much luck. I'm going to be in Vegas for ten days, so I'm looking for some interesting places to eat on the cheap!

Flack,

I have been there many times and I like to eat so I know quite a bit about eating (and cheap) in Las Vegas.

It depends on quite a few things like where you are staying, if you have a vehicle, and exactly how 'cheap' you want to be.

Let me know here or PM me back and I will try to help you out in more detail.

I'm interested in any restaraurants that are within walking distance of The Riviera, under $10 and have good vegetarian options.

Is there an In-n-Out near the Riviera? I do miss it so.

Y-bot,

Your best bet would be Circus Circus. I particularly like the the casino cafe. The food is great and the prices are under $10 for most items.

They have salads, but I am not a vegetarian so I'm not sure exactly what you would order. I'm sure you could get the chicken salad without the chicken for example.

Of course, there are always the buffets which have salad bars. Circus circus buffet is good and Sahara's buffet is pretty good. I haven't eaten at the riviera's buffet, I have only heard that it is okay from some of my friends. All of the buffets are, from what I remember slightly over $10. (Like $11 or $12, unless you go for breakfast, then they are $9 or $10).

That is really it for eating including the vegetarian options. The Riveria is in the older part of Las Vegas Blvd. and there is a lot of renovating going on. The Stardust and some others are gone so the choices are somewhat limited as far as eating in general. Add that with the price you are looking for and the vegaterian options and it gets kind of difficult.

Hopefully, I have given you some ideas. If you need anymore help, let me know.

I am in the same boat as you. I am going to be there July 26 through August 7. The cheaper eats are going to be either downtown or at the older casinos like the Sahara and Riveria. Here are some ideas I got from a quick Google search for "cheap Las Vegas dinners":

Cheap Buffets:

Cheap Eating Specials:
http://govegas.about.com/cs/dining/a/cheapeats.htm

Top 5 Food Courts: Eat for under $10 (includes the Riveria)
http://govegas.about.com/od/cehapeatinginlv/tp/tpfoodcourt.htm
Riveria Mardi Gras Food Court - A&W/KFC Express, Pizza Hut Express, Jade Dragon, Quizno's Subs, Cheesesteaks Etc., La Salsa Mexican Cantina

Cheap Eats at The Plaza: Steak and Two Lobster Tails for $9.99
http://govegas.about.com/cs/valuescoupons/p/chpplaza.htm

Ellis Island Steak Special for $4.95
No coupon needed! Easily one of best dining bargains in Las Vegas. The special is a 10-ounce filet-cut steak dinner at Ellis Island, the casino at the Super 8 Motel on Koval near E. Flamingo (Walking distant from the Strip, behind Ballys). It's served with salad, vegetable, potato, garlic bread, and rolls for $4.95, 24 hours a day. But it's not on the menu, just ask your server for the "Steak Special".

Another good source of deal coupons and local info is the Las Vegas Advisor Magazine. While the book (listed below) is not exactly free it does make up for itself.

Here is the cheap food:
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/topten.cfm (http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/topten.cfm)

Here is their Buffet page to fill your gut to explosive proportions:
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/buffets.cfm (http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/buffets.cfm)
Drill down a bit if you see something you like. Many of the places go further and offer things like kids eat for less or even free.

And of course we all need to visit this page after the party; Graveyard Specials:
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/ctable.cfm?id=9 (http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/ctable.cfm?id=9)

There are also other lists on their site for entertainment, gabmling, etc. Don't forget the "Advanced Search" feature on the page lists. Some of the deals in all of the responses above have days, hours, or areas they are associated with.

Here is a link to their coupons page (if you join):

2.2 Miles by car. Not really walking distance unless you are a lizard like me who wants to feel the sun.

You sound like my kind of guy! I am staying at the Riviera and will have a vehicle. As far as "cheap" I guess I mean "affordable." The last time I went to the Rio buffet it was $34.99 a person.

My dad is flying out the day after CGE and he will be in Vegas with me for four days. He has never been to Vegas before and I doubt he'll ever go back. What I'm looking for are "vegas-style" buffets that won't completely break our budget. I also heard about the Mermaid casino down by Freemont that has .99 cent hotdogs there, so that might be a stop. Bonus points for any "Chicago-Style" hotdogs or Italian Beef Sandwiches.

Hey Flack,

Here's the review:

If you want to do a buffet, one of the local or station casinos is your best bet for value and food quality. Some of the station casinos are Palace station (of course!), Orleans, and the Fiesta. I personally like the Fiesta the best, but there isn't that much of a difference except for it is a dollar cheaper since it is up the highway a bit. (on Rancho Dr. to the north). If you happen to go to the Hoover dam, there is another one in Henderson, which is on the way to or from the dam and you can see it from the freeway.

In any case, the closet to the Riviera is either Palace station or the Orleans. I would recommend the Orleans since there are other places in the vicinity (Palms, & Rio), whereas, Palace station is by itself so you would be essetially going there to just eat.

For these buffets the prices are around $5 for breakfast, $7 for lunch, and $10 for dinner per person. You can save around $1 if you have a card from the casino you eat at. Of course the prices are higher on weekends, particularly for dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday when only a brunch is served.

And yeah Rio is still somewhere around $35 per person. It has been that way since they remodeled that buffet several years ago. It is the largest of all the buffets, but it certainly isn't for someone on a budget.

If you want a nice sit down restaraunt, the Circus Circus cafe is another great choice. They offer huge portions at regular restaruant prices. The last time I was there a few months ago, my friend orderd the fillet milion burger. It came as three burges on a metal staircase rack. The price for that was approximately $8.95, which is similar to what you would pay at a restaruant like Denny's.

You are also right about downtown. Each hotel has their specialty of something like shrimp coctail or a drink. It simply varies upon when you go. Binions is known for their Texas style chili so if you like chili that is something to check out downtown as well.

For the Chicago hotdogs, there are three places that are good or look good. One I have been to and the others I haven't. The one I have been to is Chicago Tasty dogs. I thought it was great. I'm not an expert in Chicago style hot dogs since I have only been to Chicago a few times and have only had a Chicago style hot dog just as many times. But the ingredients were fresh with lots of flavor, which of course, Chicago style hotdogs are known for. The other possible good news is that they have Italian beef sandwiches. Since I got a hotdog, I don't know about the sandwich, but if the hotdog was good...
Chicago style dogs is on Eastern Ave South of I215. It would be a little bit of a drive, like the Fiesta (about 20 minutes), if you were going to the Hoover Dam, or you really wanted a Chicago style hotdog or Italian beef sandwich.

The other places are Mr.Hotdog (E. Flamingo Rd.) and Taste of Chicago (also has Italian beef sandwich (N. Rancho Dr.)

Finally, regarding the coupons, a lot of good coupons can be found in the magazines in the hotel room. There are a lot of coupons for shows and some for food. The best bet is if you can find one the books to buy. Most souvenir shops have them and you can check them out before you buy them. They are filled with a majority of 2 for 1 dining coupons.

Well, I guess that is my review for dining in Las Vegas. This should be enough to keep you busy (and full). If there happens to be anything I missed let me know.
