I think I've asked this here before, but no one could help me, so I'm trying again.

I played a Dragon Ball game for the NES once long ago. I'm one of those that looks to collect every game he ever rented/borrowed from friends, so I'd really like to find this, but I don't remember what it's called.

I do know that it's not Dragon Power or Whomp 'Em, as I have those.

This appeared to be based off of the original Dragon Ball series. The main character (Goku I guess, but I'm not sure if this game was officially licensed) is a little boy with a tail, and you have to collect seven orbs before time runs out. I'm pretty sure it was 2D side scrolling. There were different doors here and there that would lead to different screens. I remember the game being really hard, 'cuz I could never find all seven balls in time. It gave you a very limited amount of time to do it.

I borrowed this from a friend (way back in the day, don't know what happened to the guy to ask him about it), and I only played it for a few minutes before declaring it stupid and giving it back to him. Years later, Dragon Ball became known here in America and I remembered this game. I've been trying to find it/remember what it's called ever since. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Was it an NES cart or a famicom cart? It could have been a more generic game based on the old chinese legend maybe? There's tons of those.

You sure it's not just "Dragon Ball" for the NES? I'm PMing you a link to some footage of the game, perhaps this will help. Let me know here if that's it or not.

It sounds exactly like Dragon Power to me, maybe you're just mixing games together.

It was definitely a US release. I didn't even know what a Famicom was back in those days, let alone what to do with a Famicom cart.

Incubus, I've looked at lists before, and I've never been able to find a NES game simply called Dragon Ball. The video you PMed me is footage of the game Dragon Power, only with a different title screen. Here, take a look:

I know Dragon Power is a Dragon Ball game, and that the name was changed in the US because no one here knew what the heck Dragon Ball was at the time. Was the game Dragon Ball maybe the European or Japanese name? Either way, it's still not the game I'm looking for.

As I recall, the game I'm looking for had simpler graphics than Dragon Power, and I'm pretty sure it was side scrolling only.

I'm fairly sure the game you're looking for is Ninja Kid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxR6U8KP99s).

Rev. Link - I'm not real sure on the name difference between "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Power". From what you say it probably is the title from a different nationality. All I know is that my rom says "Dragon Ball" and when I searched "Dragon Ball" on google that video clip poped up.

No, sorry, that's not it either. And it's definitely not Flying Dragon.

so far these are the only Dragon Ball games I've found to have a domestic release.

Dragon Power

i'm not aware of any other NES games that were based on Journey to the West that were released in the states. If you only played it a mere handfull of minutes, could you by any chance be mistaken in your refusal?

it could have been a priate if not.
