and the DS kicks ass! AGAIN
The NPD (http://kotaku.com/gaming/npd/) Group has released hardware sales (http://kotaku.com/gaming/sales/) figures for the month of June, with the Nintendo DS (http://kotaku.com/gaming/nintendo-ds/) and Wii (http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii/) crushing the competition with a combined sales of over 943,000 units. Sony's PlayStation 2 and PSP showed very well, selling around a quarter million units each—PS3, notsomuch. Here are the NPD hardware sales figures for June, including Game Boy Advance and Xbox 360 numbers.
Nintendo DS - 561,900
Wii - 381,800
PSP - 290,100
PlayStation 2 - 270,700
Xbox 360 - 198,400
Game Boy Advance - 109,400
PLAYSTATION 3 - 98,500 well at least the 360 sold 97,000 more than Gameboy advance .....right.

Jeez, the DS is on fire!
I'm curious to see the PS3 numbers for July. Should be much more than 98.5k. :P

Maybe the PS3 with actually sell more than the GBA this month. lol So guys... when are you going to admit you have a problem and do something about it? At this rate, MGS4 and FF13 alone are not going to save you.
Honestly, they should keep the $499 tag even when the 80gb's roll out. I'm still not interested until I see 5 games I can't pass on (non released yet) and it's priced roughly $300. I might grab an old version PSP this year if stores start clearing them out cheap for the newer ones.

I wonder how the PS2 would do at a $99 price point?
Im sure the PS3s numbers will be up for July but by how much?
I like the fact that the "underpowered" Wii and last gen PS2 are still outselling both the 360 and by far the PS3. It shows that the majority of casual gamers out there really dont care much about techspecs and all the HD technophile stuff that we here at DP argue and debate over so much:roll:

Why the heck are people still buying GBAs? DSes aren't that expense, and can play GBA games, too.
The DS rules. Can't argue with that.
Those DS sales are crazy, the PS2 in an Iron Horse.

GBA's can play the older Game Boy Color and the orignal Game Boy games...the Nintendo DS can't do that. That's probably why people are still buying GBA's...not to mention it already has a huge base of games that can also be played on the DS as well. I guess a lot of people still want to play those old Game Boy games...
Man, the PS3 is doing horribly! I don't think any kind of great "exclusive" games can save the system now....if Sony doesn't cut the price again, they are going to be in for a rough holiday season. Even if all these good games come out, most people are still going to stay away from the system due to it's wallet-breaking price point ($500-$600)!

What falls under the GBA category? Just the SP's and any older GBA's that are still on a shelf? My Walmart still has a ton of Gameboy Micro's that they continue marking down lower and lower. Somebody is buying them because the pile shrinks little by little. Would they have their own listing or just get lumped in as a GBA variant for this particular set of statistics? I know it is kind of a dumb question.

Wow, PS3 under 100k for how many months in a row now? To quote my magic 8-ball, outlook not so good.
