Well it has taken over a year of planning and development but my Retro Video Game store is finally open in Corpus Christi TX.
The name of my store is Play Again Classic Video Games and while I have a webpage it is really not developed yet. (www.playagaincvg.com) as soon as I can get someone in my store to develop the page I hope to have a nice one with web shopping. I did however attach some pics here, please excuse the mess these were taken a few days before grand opening!
I wanted to thank all of the nice people who supported me over the last year during the very trying planning year of 2006, your support was awesome and just a great reflection on the type of people that are on this board.
We sell all kinds of games and systems from Atari to Xbox, as well as finding arcade games and pinball machines for peoples home at a very reasonable price.
We offer classic and modern video games as well as console repair, anime, manga, figures, pachinko for play, coffee, smoothies and coming out of right field cosplay costumes both premade and custom made.
So yes if you wish to be Mario, Princess Peach or just a Japanese schoolgirl we can hook ya up!
I am currently planning on having competitions on our HD projector on the wall that will cover street fighter games as well as retro games.. pinball tournaments, anime nights, cosplay parties and basically a whole bunch of stuff that people seem to dig here.
So if there are any DP'ers in the South Texas Corpus Christi area, please feel free to come by and visit and your first smoothie is on me!

Looks nice, now if only someone on these forums would open a store within a drive range from me I might be able to visit in person

As soon as my wife and I can make a trip to Corpus we'll be there. :D Galveston is getting a bit tired anyway. I've been meaning to see more of the Texas coast so the trip will be a two-fer.
Congratz to you Marco :)

How did you know i secretly wished to be a Japanese schoolgirl? You must hook me up.
Seriously, I like the look of your store. If I was within a decent distance to your store I would drop by.
If you ever get some classic EGM mags in there shoot me a PM. I'd gladly pay shipping.

Nice! A new, non corporate gaming store in Texas is always a welcome sight! And like IM said above, it ain't too far away from Houston!
You might just see me and some friends in the near future!
Now...if we could only get a shop like this in Houston.......

Thank you all very much, your support is awesome, I hope to see many of you this week at CGE, I will have some Tshirts with my logo on them to give away as well so if you are a DP member and see a guy with tshirts say hi. I will be the guy wearing the royal blue shirt with a small white Play Again logo.
The response to the store has been great, in addition to the premade costumes, I am really surprised on how many people want retro games, collectables, smoothies and cosplay costumes here.
It seems the custom costume service is really getting a head of steam I am currently setting up costumes for people who want to be Xena, InuYasha, Sailor Moon, Solid Snake, Kikyo. I figured some gamers would like cosplay and anime but it is a pleasant surprise to see how many in such a short time.
I have this girl and her friends that come into my store who only dresses in guy costumes so one day she comes in as Phoenix Wright another day Kakashi (Naruto series) or any number of other characters. On the other hand it seems that most guys in my store want to try one of the many schoolgirl costumes. I have to say people really are fun here and really make my 7 day 14 hour days fly by!
In any case thanks again folks and if there is any games you are looking for or if you need a cosplay let me know, those are my two most favorite things! and yes that includes you too Push Upstairs! hee hee
All of you Texas folks who are thinking of coming in, be sure to let me know, I want to make sure I give you a Tshirt and a smoothie on me!

Sweet! My girlfriend's dad lives and works in Port A (parasailing operation on the island), so we're down that way a pretty fair amount. I will definitely be stopping by to check out your place!!

From one game store owner to another, congrats and good luck. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and maybe I can be of some help :)
I have some interest at my store for anime and manga and am curious how you go about stocking those items? Do you have a distributor?

Dang, 1,893 miles away.... It looks awesome, though.
I swear, one of these days I'm going to make a cross-country trip and visit all the great classic gaming shops out there. It'd be perfect, too, because I could end it with Digital Press (I live in California). Of course, in order for it to be worth it, I'd need a lot more money than I have now :)

I had the pleasure of meeting Marco and visiting his store this past week and wanted to bump this back up to the top and say thanks to him! He's running a top notch operation and went out of his way to make me feel welcome in his store.
The only bad thing I have to report is thanks to him, I'm now searching desperately for a source for Ramune!! ;)
Thanks again Marco and I'll be sure to stop by on my next trip to Port A!!!

QFT. We do have a few here on the east coast(a little store called Digital Press that you may or may not have heard of, among others). But I also wish more knew stores opened closer to us.

My city is lame. The closest retro game store is 50km away.
My COUNTRY is lame. The closest retro game store is overseas. Still, some people still manage to hold old ladies hostage with a Light Phaser (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=128579).
But, seriously, it's tough to be a gamer around here. I'd gladly travel 50km to a store anytime, if there was any. Our only option is an auction site where things are generally overpriced and in bad condition.

I felt the same way, but then I found DP 5 min away from my house! Boy was I happy hehehe. To think that I passed their place in the PhillyClassic years ago and said, who the hell do they think they are selling buyers guides :p

Actually, I think a lot about doing so, since, as far as I know, there are no classig game stores in this whole country - and believe me, I looked. Sadly, the city (actually, the whole state) I live now has no market for this.
Maybe in a few years, when I move back to my homestate. Hope you'll still be around :)

I think I may be on to something. I should start a chain of retro/classic gaming stores. I could even franchise them out to Canada, Brazil and Mexico. Thats not a bad idea. Too bad I'm broke as a joke and it isn't even funny.

Is it really 50k from Abbotsford to New Westminster? Well I may be opening a second store in Maple Ridge, that's a bit closer. :)
