I thought this was kind of funny. I feel like replying and jerking the guy around, or maybe making my own post saying I'll pay a couple grand for it.

It seems like a harmless ad to me. It would be funny if he had a stupid low offer like $50 bucks or something. But he just says "name your price and I'll pick it up." Who knows, he could be really rich.

Buy one of the $45 replicas and sell it to him!

I wount't be a jerk with him. He's probably thinking "it never hurts to try"

exactly, I was expecting to read "I'll pay $25 for it" but saw nothing that made me go "Huh? Why is this amusing again?"
Leave him alone. It's a honest "can't hurt to try" ad which doesn't deserve tampering with. Let him be. He's just doing what many of us have done in the past when trying to find a rare game... inquire

Are those even in stock again? :D
They were this morning, not sure if they still are though. Seems like they are lasting longer each time before selling out.
If you can get one, it is pretty cool to have!

I put a request up one time looking for some games in general, but I didn't get much of a response.
My reasoning was that it was worth a shot. This is probably the same idea.

Sure, you never know when a bozo may email you saying they'll sell it for under $50. It isn't very likely but other than being mentioned on message boards like this or potentially getting a bunch of joke/BS replies, what is the worst that could happen from posting a Want ad for the NWC on Craig's List? I doubt you'll get one that way but it certainly isn't impossible. Think of it the way Jim Carrey thought of his chances with Mary in Dumb And Dumber ;)

If I had the money to spend on an NWC cart, but couldn't find one on ebay or anything, thats probably what I would do too. Like this one expensive dealer at a flea market. I know her prices are always high, but I kept going back. I eventually found Swordquest: Waterworld for $15 at her table. So like what was said before, never hurts to try.

I didn't contact the person, and didn't/don't actually plan to.
When I read it I just assumed he was hoping to get one for a steal to re-sell and make a quick buck (guess I'm a pessimist), which just kind of bugs me for some reason. I mean, it is one thing to come across something with a price marked and buy it, but to actively seek something out... I dunno, just seems like bad mojo going on.
But you all are right, I'm reading into it and he very well might just be a collector willing to pay the 2 grand or whatever it is worth these days.

I actually met someone through CL who had a NWC cart. Too bad he was ebaying it. It was fun to play though.

PROTIP: Always copy and paste or post a screenshot of a craigslist ad - even if the site isn't always down (like it is now), these things eventually get deleted.
