This was something I never expected to see at the flea market...

I was looking at a guy's CDs and I found this buried at the bottom. Yes, it has a box, and yes, it SAYS Konami and it even has the logo. I'm as surprised as you are. The box says that it's for the Asian version of the NES, oddly enough - I would've expected to see a famiclone cart instead of a standard NES-style cart.
There is no mention of what games are in the cart, and I can't test this since all my NES systems are blinky crap. What the fuck is Batman doing in that cover, anyway?
Both the box and the cart have a sticker that says "650 in 1" on it, typed with a typewriter. The cart has Phillips screws and a couple of stickers near the connectors to prevent anyone from opening it, heh heh.
I'm mostly wondering if anyone else owns this game. I don't think it's worth much, but I would like to hawk it on eBay. :p

Nice little find there. I dont know value wise what its worth, but I see pirates go on eBay for $20-$40 all the time.
Finding it in the wild makes it that much sweeter

I'm actually thinking of getting a replacement connector just to test this game...
Where can I get one?

I've actually NEVER been able to sell a pirate NES cartridge on ebay without it getting pulled. I haven't tried in a year or so. Have they become lax on pirate carts, or was I just unlucky (4 or 5 different time)?
BTW, that is an awesome find, Kitsune! I've never seen that pirate cart before. Nice box too.

Tell me about it. Everytime I tried to sell an NES adapter to play Japanese Famicom games on a US NES the auction got pulled(3 times). And yet I see others listing import convertors/adapters for the NES/Famicom all the time. Perhaps we just have bad luck.

Nope, we're just shitlisted.
I've tried to sell some items on eBay - and they get pulled every time I try. I've been tagged by Microsoft for selling OEM software (with the necessary hardware) and my auctions get pulled. So I'm pretty sure they've got me in their radar.

I once tried to sell a Power Joy on eBay, and got the auction pulled. But then again, that's something a bit more...unscrupulous.
Anyways, back on topic: You can probably find a dozen sellers on eBay who sell replacement connectors. But I'd really recommend trying to refurb your old one if at all possible -- works great, and it's not like pulling tree trunks out of your Nintendo if you decide to buy a new one.

Do you mean taking apart my NES and polishing the connectors myself? I can barely repair my computer. >_>

It's actually not that hard to do. All you need is some sandpaper and canned air. Here's the instructions (http://www.digitpress.com/livefaq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=77&id=16&artlang=en) if you decide to go through with it.

Perhaps I should rephrase that... I see pirate carts on ebay all the time that *have yet* to be pulled... Most of them have bids hovering around the $30 range, some higher, some lower. Just did a search for completed items and only found a handful. Maybe the carts that I see get pulled before the auction ends :/
I have actually had bids on a few pirates before, and had eBay pull the auction before it ended. But I have also successfully purchased 2 NES pirates with no problems.

I am generally not a fan of pirate carts, but that is pretty cool. Because it is the asian version and it has a box, I would say it would be worth no less than $70. Very cool pirate. Would not try to add it to ebay, though, for reasons already mentioned.

Someone offered $10 for it. :p
I was thinking of selling my bootleg multicarts on eBay but now I'm not so sure if I should.

I've also got a 700in1 with the same box, I'd also expect it to go for around 50-70$US. eBay is hit and miss, sometimes it goes, sometimes it doesn't. I used to think weekends were free, but then I had a multicart pulled on a Sunday, so that isn't the case :(
My advice, if you're going to list pirates on eBay, is to list them as unlicensed carts, and 1 or 3 day auctions.

I personally never pay more than $30 for a NES pirate, but since it has the box, its value is higher.
Back in May a boxed pirate sold for 26 euro (shipped) on nesworld. Unfortunately it was a fraud, but still it gives you an indication of its value to collectors.

Hm. Think that's a good place to sell my games? I've never been to that forum, and I just read the whole scam thing on the front page. :(
People here know I'm legit and all. But I'm nobody over there. (Not that I'm someone here but you know what I mean...)

There is one way to get it by the all-seeing eye of the ebay police. You can list it with a system and some other common games and hope that 2-3 people notice the pirate cart and bid it up that way. Also, if you do that, you will likely get an email or two from people who want to buy just the cart, which is what you want anyway.

Quickie bump.
I got a friend to disable the 10NES chip for me, and I finally managed to play this thing. And it doesn't have 650 games, but it does have a lot. I remember the following:
Super Mario Bros.
Duck Hunt
Karateka
Moai Kun (Konami)
The Goonies
Circus Charlie
Gradius
Star Soldier
Arkanoid
Yie Ar Kung Fu
Nuts & Milk
TENGEN Tetris (?!)
SDF Macross
Xevious
The Legend of Kage
Road Fighter (Konami)
The Adventures of Dino Riki
Lode Runner
Amongst the uh, other victims are a few games that I don't think were released anywhere other than Japan. One of them is a game where you play an asian soldier oddly dressed like a VC from the Vietnam war (?!), and the other is a really awesome game called "Arabian". It plays sorta like a platforming Lode Runner, without you destroying blocks. There's also another version of Tetris I'd never seen before, a Go game (which I've seen in several other pirate carts), and other games which don't exactly ring a bell right now.
I purchased an Adaptec Gamebridge capture card a few days ago and plan to post videos of it once I get it. With commentary if I can get that stupid microphone to work...

can you get screen caps of the menus?

No need. The cart boots up to a menu with "GAME 001-025" and such. Choose one of those and you get a list of possible "games" (which is as usual the same game but at different levels or with different powerups.)

aside from having a cool label, none of those games are anything specail )most multi carts come with the same games) still a neat item to have regardless. Funny how maybe 3 of them are actual konami games ;-)

there are many pirates which use the konami name, im not really sure why.. but i have a boxed konami pirate aswel, or at least, it has konami on the box.. my box looks like an older version of yours, it says all the same things on it, but it doesnt have any artwork on the front, just wording ("internasional Edition ASIAN VERSION" lol), and it has a plastic window to see the cart label through, though you have to put the cart in upsidedown to line up the label with the window. bthe back says all the same things again, but it has a whole lot of screenshots from various games, most of which look like intro or title screens, mostly for well known games from 16-bit era consoles. the cartridge is a single famicom rom (the title is in japanese, i dont know it, someone told me they thought it was saint seiya or something like that) and like that one is in a regular nes cartridge with no security ic, so the only way to play it is on a pirate console, or a modded nes. my cartridge is made of orange plastic, and is of substancially worse build quality, the cart is just stuck together by sealing the edges in a few places, like the plastic casings on some transformers, only they did it poorly. there are no screws, or screw holes. the label is a famicom label, it has the right dimensions for a famicom size cartridge, so they just stuck it sideways, it doesnt fit the nes lable space. if you hold it up to a light (lol) you can see the outline of the board inside, and it looks like they have gotten a famicom cart size board and soldered the edge connector to a fami to nes pin conversion board. this is not the first pirate i have seen adapted like this.. though i dont remember what the other one was. if anyone wants pics i can take some, just say so.
another example of the konami name being used is this pirate console i found online a while back. it has an amusingly unpronouncable name:)

Always a wonderful idea to spread around tiny metal specks that were sanded off into electronics. :smash: Even if you do remove the connector first to minimize this, you should never sand your contacts. Use a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol.

Too late. :p
I didn't really sand the contacts that much. All I did was pass the sandpaper twice, and it pulled up the pins, enabling me to play again. It's not perfect but it should do fine until I can get a new, connector down the road.
