I just got my PS3 this last week and just got it hooked up to my HDTV (before it was hooked up to my SDTV). One problem I saw when I had it hooked up through S-VIDEO on my SDTV was that when the screen was black, I could see a few thin lines moving from the bottom of the TV to the top. I was thinking this was my cable and I was in the process of getting another one.

Today I hooked up my PS3 to my Sony Wega CRT HDTV. I see the same thin line. What would be causing this problem? I was thinking it was because we are both using component cables and the PS3 is optimized for HDMI. Is that the case? Has this happened to anyone else?

I just made a YouTube video of the problem. If you look at the black background you can see thin lines scroll up from the bottom of the screen. This is on my SDTV through S-Video.

Well, it is certainly not normal. It looks like interference....same type I get when my frickin' cable wire is plugged into the TV believe it or not. Unplug your cable wire and see if it stops.

Damn! Thats what it is. I unplugged the coaxial coming from the cable box and now the interference is gone. Any idea how to stop the interference?

Glad I could help :) Well, let me just say that I have not found the cure yet....quite annoying. I would say maybe the insulation on the cable is just not good perhaps...I have to call Cablevision one of these days and complain. I pay for it, they should be responsible for fixing the issue.

I had the same problem when using component cables with my PS3. Just to make sure that it wasn't the console I hooked up my PSX with them.....same thing. I switched to the HDMI setup and the problem immediately went away.....and it looks better as well. I hadn't thought of the cable tv hookup causing the problem. Makes sense.

Thats wierd cuz I hooked up my PS3 to several different TVs (even 1080P) and got the lines. I get the lines on my SCART HD tv and I don't have cable or a cable box, I have classic systems hooked up to coax. But on my TV, its not the same kinda lines, its more of a wave. But thanks for the heads up on the HD tvs with PS3. I didn't think of the cablebox or anything like that. Pain in the ass it is.
