How is adding a controller that would INCREASE the ammount of people enjoying this system a bad thing?

Gotta chime in here, as I finally managed to find a Wii last week. It would be a bad thing because, put simply, the Wii can't compete with either the PS3 or the Xbox 360 in the dual-analog world. It's on the bottom of the pile in every way except physical size and, perhaps, reliability.

If Wii Madden 08 could be played in standard dual-analog fashion, EA would undoubtedly "quick port" it, and it would be be little improvement over 2006's GameCube title. But when EA is forced to "think different" about the entire game due to the Wiimote, everyone wins.

When you stick with the Wiimote controller foundation, and require developers to adapt if they want a piece of the Wii $$$ hotcakes, then Nintendo sets up itself (and Wii owners) for success.

since when did playtime equal enjoyment? ... This study just reflects the design of many Wii titles (more instant action that's best enjoyed in short bursts in comparison to more complex and longer games).

I agree. According to the study:

Wii = 1.8 gaming sessions per day x 57 minutes per session = 102.6 minutes per day.

Xbox 360 = 2.2 gaming sessions per day x 61 minutes per session = 134.2 minutes per day.

That's a difference of 31.6 minutes per day, which doesn't seem like such a dramatic difference to me.

It would prove Nintendo should have also freaking included a regular controller!

The Wiimote + Nunchuk is basically a regular controller setup, so what's your point?
Btw I don't own either a Wii, Cube or DS, so pls don't count me as an avid Nintendo lover, I'm fine playing new PS2 releases atm.

I didn't suspect the Wii doing so well in its first months, but I'm pleased with it, cause I loved the concept the first time I saw it. It's still way too soon to predict who'll "win" this generation and it really doesn't matter at all to me, as long as every machine gets its fare share of sexy exclusives.

I disagree, not only because most games don't even use the dual analog setup to its full potential (Halo for example), but the Wii's motion sensing capabilities can emulate a 2nd analog stick, if the need arises.
