I'm pretty this game came out around 1999 - 2000. I remember playing this game as a demo from one of the pc gaming magazines around 99'. Things I remember about this game: it was an rpg, you were in an scary asylum in the beginning of the game, the graphics were similar to "planetscape: torment" with a similar isometric view and in the beginning of the game you wandered around this asylum using magical powers and what not, the graphics were really "dark" and evil looking like diablo. Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?

I think that was the first Baldur's Gate. Hilarious! One of my favorite characters. Too bad every character you had in that game constantly whined if you weren't doing what they wanted you to do. And threatened to leave or even actually left.

Minsc and Boo are in the second one too.

GO FOR THE EYES BOO!

LMAO Good times playing that game. I think he would remember any game with a "Miniature Giant Space Hamster" in it.

I've got a little cardboard-jewel copy of Sanitarium lying about...I haven't played it yet, though. Should be fun when I do.

Such a good game, Sanitarium. The only major flaw was the voice acting; the main character's voice reminded me a little of Dave Seville. (All he needed was an annoying sidekick named Alvin.) And some of the pixel hunts were a bit annoying, too. The constant references to "red herrings" were an especially nice touch.

By the way, it got the post-mortem treatment at Gamasutra:

Well, if nothing else, it was good preparation for the world of MMP online gaming.

Go play it!

The best point and click I've ever played, not so much for the puzzles, which I agree suffer from a bad case of the pixel hunts, but for the story line and dark atmosphere. A must for anyone who enjoyed "I Have no Mouth". The second area of the game after the asylum has you vist a small town populated entirely by mutilated and freakish children. (:
