The following is the triler that will appear on PSN and XBL tomorrow. Much better than the one from E3.

And there is actual gameplay footage in this one. Enjoy (A day early)!

EDIT - Actually, the trailer is now up, on XBL. Don't know about PSN, cause I don't own a PS3.

This will be the greatest video game of all time. I'm calling it now.

Ok, this is what I'm talking about. This is some real Next-Gen gaming, if all this footage is to be believed. I'm guessing it is real, and it's going to knock our collective socks off, when it comes out in late 2008 or sometime in 2009. Looks absolutely amazing. I love the setting as well. This may have jumped into my No.1 overall spot of most wanted game, PERIOD.

I wonder if there will be any controversy about the game? There shouldn't be, but I can see how Reverend Al Sharpton could spin this. He comes home and finds his 20 year old grandson playing Resident Evil 5, a game in which you are a white male, killing nothing but black folks. Sure, the setting appears to be based in Africa, and I'm sure there is some kind of plague or something that turns all the people into zombie-like psycho's, but to somebody that doesn't have a clue, it's a video game in which you are a white dude, killing nothing but crazy looking black people, lol.

I guess we know what is really going on in Darfur now.

Tough to tell the gameplay from the cut-scenes.

I thought about that too. I'm sure there will be some talk around it, but i doubt anything will change the game (like being banned etc.) or anything.

I never been a Resident Evil fan myself tho so i doubt i'll buy Resident Evil 5, but the trailer looks pretty good i must say.

I posted about this over at Joystiq, and thought, "Hey, maybe Capcom is trying to inject some political allegory into the series." Think about it, if Umbrella is behind this and testing some new kind of drug/toxin/evil zombie producing underarm deodorant where would be the best place to drop it? A populated US city? Or a third world continent so already rife with violence and disease that no one would notice and/or give a shit.

Maybe I'm giving Capcom's narrative designers too much credit, but I'd love to see this included. It would show balls of steel. Balls. Of. Steel.

Looks hot.

Reminds me of Day of the Dead (more the original script form, but movie as well) and 28 days later (runners). Alot of Zombi 2 as well (the Haitian/voodoo like atmosphere)

Kind of looks overwhelming in some areas though, how the hell can you take on a whole crowd of 15 with a knife??!

My guess is you don't. I hope they include running from your enemies as a primary means of dealing with conflict. Remember how scary those moments in RE3 were? Seeing Tyrant lumber towards you, firing off a couple of shots and then going, "Oh, the hell with this!" and promptly running off with your tail between your legs?

Those moments were TENSE.

IMO that looks better than MGS4.....looks amazing. I was really suprised by the AMOUNT of zombies (or...enemies) on screen at one time. If you have to really monitor all of your ammo like in past RE games, I am sure you haveto make sure those bullets count in this game!

Damn and I thought RE4 had a lot things going on at once, these people have grappling hooks! No more pushing ladders down to buy some time, this game is going to be sick.

The added "OMGZ WHOZ THAT GIRL?!" bit at the end felt kind of cheap, kind of really cheap.

Amazing trailer, the action looks intense! The graphics are nothing short of jaw dropping too.

GOTY 2009.

This looks absolutely amazing. I'm loving the looks of the engine PLUS I love the lighting effects. Moving from dark <-> light is starting to look like it does it real life; you can't see properly for the first few seconds.

Wow... I'm usually one that doesn't get easily excited (this whole "next gen gaming" thing has left me mostly indifferent until now) but this game looks absolutely incredible!

Now if only Konami can pull off something as spectacular as this with Silent Hill 5... *fingers crossed*

Visually it looks very sexy. However, from those glimpses it still looks like it's using the same damn control scheme from RE4. Hooray for moving like a tank!

Actually I thought that 1-3 was like "steering" a tank. The controls for 4 IMO were perfect.

Eh I disagree (then again, I seem to be the only person on the planet who doesn't really like RE 4.)

I felt that at it's heart the controls in RE4 are no different than from those found previous versions. Drop the camera over the shoulder and give some more freedom aiming and the way you move is pretty much the same as in the previous games. Leon's total lack of mobility sucks the fun out of the game for me. It's an old, obvious and unsubtle play mechanic which Capcom has been using since the first game in the series. The gameplay is 'definied' by what you can't do (strafe, move and shoot etc.) When chased by a hulking great monster with a chainsaw I wouldn't stand totally still and take aim. The relative static-ness of the action (run a few feet backwards, turn and shoot, lather rinse and repeat) pretty much kills any sense of panic that should have been there for me because I was frustrated by the 'cheap' controls.

If that makes any sense what so ever. It's hard to put into words.

Did you guys notice that one part in the trailer, it was towards the end, in which it appeared that one of the villagers chucked a knife or machete at Chris Redfield, and I think he used his gun and shot the blade away from him. Maybe I need to watch it again, to be sure, but man, that was incredibly impressive. The only thing I'm at all concerned about, is that this doesn't somehow turn into another Killzone 2 situation, in which the footage that we are seeing isn't actually real, but is a target render. That would be the only thing that could dampen my enthusiasm for this game. I honestly can't think of any other game that I would rather play right now, than this game. Man, if 2009 is the year of release, then I wish I had a time travel device and could get to 2009, pronto. I gotta play this game, it just looks too freaking amazing. The parts when you see Chris Redfield on screen in his aiming pose, that looks like real gameplay, but the graphics appear to be beyond anything we've seen so far. If this is real, then this appears to be the first Next-Gen game that is going to really validate Microsoft and Sony's vision of why they chose to continue to push the boundries of technology. Experiences like RE5 are only possible, when gifted developers are given hardware that lets them express their creativity with virtually limitless boundries. Every time I see this trailer, I get a little tingle down my spine, just knowing that games will continue to get more and more amazing.

It was amazing when it happened in Resident Evil 4 too. Actually, I liked knifing the sickles and axes thrown at me a lot better *DING*!

The game looks exactly like RE4 so far, and that's no bad thing by a longshot! Damn fine looking game too I might add.

You could do that in Resident Evil 4. You could shoot Axes, blades, torches and dynamite that was being thrown at you -or- directly out of the enemies hands if you were a really good shot. The sound of shooting the blades in the trailer was the exact sound from RE4. I suspect they haven't gotten around to creating all of the original sounds for RE5 yet.

That was one of my favorite parts in RE4, running up and shooting a stick of dynamite and clearing a pack of baddies :D

Can't wait.

No, that makes sense; different strokes, different folks, etc. etc. etc.

I'd argue for Capcom in this situation; I thought that the RE4 control scheme was pretty awesome, and that being forced to stop, aim, and run added a lot to combat strategy in the game. I'll admit that it screwed me a couple times too, but not unfairly; it was usually my own lack of foresight that killed me.

I'll admit, though, that as impressive as the trailer is, I was hoping they'd have moved the game design for the series as far ahead as RE4 did. From the trailer, it looks like they've retained the exact same control scheme; if the zombies are as fast and brutal as rumors would have it, being able to move and shoot would be nice.

Awesome trailer, the amount of zombies on screen is astounding. Looks significantly more difficult than RE4.

As with many others, this is my number one most anticipated game.

How much pressure is capcom under now???? Awesome I can't wait. They gotta throw in the puffer fish. ALso Hoss is on some serious roids.

Blah blah blah...anything to get a tiny blog's name in the news. This game is being made by the Japanese...not evil "whitey". Maybe someone should tell the blog's author that shocking fact before she makes an ass out of herself again.

Exactly, why can't they make a game that takes place in a location where there is predominately black people. I don't know where the locale is supposed to be but I hope its in some war-torn part of Africa. Reason being that it makes the game feel more real and modern. There's also not that many places that take place predominately in Africa. Even WW2 games don't focus on the African Theater, maybe some of the Bond games or some World traveler type games have spent some time in Africa.

You know what? I'd actually applaud some blatant racism in a video game. Not that it would have to be the central theme of the game but just to have it in the game. It's life, why does everything have to be so PC? I'm guessing the game wouldn't sell very well as these same people would rise up to block it from ever reaching store shelves. I understand that games are more interactive than movies but why can't games deal with some of the same issues. I'm still waiting for "Brokeback Mountain:Return to the Peak-The Game".

I just downloaded the trailer on live and man the thing that gets me is the attention to detail and the realism. From the way that the eyes look from the civilians to the chris boots. The man drinking all the npc's movements are some of the most realistic I have ever seen in a video game.

Watching it with the live download offered better clarity. Man this game will rule. I must commend capcom I thought it would be hard to top re4. I know it is early but it sure is looking sweet.

Okay.

Is the villager who kinda glares directly at the camera, in the beginning of the trailer, not the absolute, most creepiest shit you've ever seen??

Every time I watch that trailer, that one brief stare gives me chills.

Pretty much, lol. Man, I'm telling you....every time I see this trailer, I get a tingle in my spine thinking that I have something really special to keep in the back of my brain as something to look forward to until the release. Even if everything else in life goes to hell in a handbasket, I still got the notion that RE5 will eventually come out, and it will blow my collective socks off!
