I remember playing one of the metal slug games on a cocktail back in the day. It was at a pizza hut and it was the only game in it. Now, was this a conversion or were there actually neogeo cocktails?

Never heard of or seen one. In my experience, Neos came dedicated in 25" format only. The only difference was the cab design between 2, 4, or 6 slot. The single slot board I believe was ONLY sold as a conversion kit. Matter of fact, iirc, the single slot boardset is actually stamped Romstar, not SNK.

It came in way more than just 25 inch models:

No cocktails that were dedicated. These of course are just the North American Neos, there are links to pics of dedicated Neos from other parts of the world as well on that page.

I"m guessing a Neo Cocktail was an aftermarket creation as there's no flip screen mode in the bios that I know of and side by side cocktails are pretty rare. Aside from that, it'd be damn hard to play KOF on a side by side cocktail.

Wow, apparently I don't know my Neos....lol. Ddin't realize they came in so many styles, especially a 13". Funny thing, though. I HAVE 2 of the woodgrain 19" cabs, and totally forgot about them! Thanks for the link, that's really informative.

No problem at all! I just started buying Neo cabs, I have a big red 4 slot already and was thinking about picking up a Neo gold. How do you like yours? They're pretty fair in price and I like the way they look a lot so I think thats the next cab I grab (unless I can find another cheap candy cab around here).

Golds are easy to move, doesn't take up as much room, either. Two slot gives you enough to play, I guess, but I like 4 better. The only complaint I have with the gold is that it uses a Hantarex monitor. I would have preferred a K7000, but, unless you change out the tube, that's what you have.
