I see all you guys with your nice collections of cabs and such and I would like some advice on tracking down items.

A few years back I tried vendors with little luck, and craigs list and ebay dont turn up anything in my area, and the arcade news group is too broad imo, so any general advice would be welcome.

Sometimes the strange places are the best ones. Flack had a post here a while back, he picked up a cab on the side of the road from a business that appeared to be closed/closing. I bought my Pole Position II from a "shop" (if you can call a room FULL of junk, and I mean, junk) that had just recently closed. I've picked up cabs from people who've had them for a while and just don't want them anymore. (that's always a nice phone call!). Keep checking your local newspaper/want ads, whatever you have in your area.

Keep in mind most people here have acquired their cabinets over an extended period of time. Some folks around here have lots of machines, or a nice game room, but none of it happened overnight. Just keep your eyes open, be patient, check pawnshops/papers/local operators/arcades, etc.

Another thing, also. Tell EVERYONE that you are into video games/arcade machines. You never know who has what. Believe me, it can be surprising what you'll end up with. My father in law threw me an Atari 7800 that was lounging around the attic there when they found out I was into video games. (In my area, 7800 is kinda hard to come by, so I was happy to say the least)

The nice thing is, it's better to have everyone out there looking for you, because more eyes are better, and also, it's nice to have a choice to pas on something rather than never had the chance at all. Hopefully this post helps a little bit, and good luck finding some cabs!!
