I was wondering whether or not there is anyway to modify a Sega CDX to play Japanese Mega CD games. I know a simple cartridge adaptor will work for playing Megadrive Cartridges, but I really would like to make this tiny workhorse completely America/Japan compatible.

No reason in having such a small frame if you have to have another set of consoles to play Japanese Mega CDs!

Apparently the Mega Cart works with the CDX.

wow thanks for this!

I would really like to find a mod chip/switch system, but if all else fails I will check this route out.

I don't know about the CDX, but the way you do it with a Sega CD1 or 2 is to add a multibios. You basically replace the ROM in the system with an EPROM with a Japanese, American, and European BIOS. Then you wire up a switch to select between the three.

http://arakon.dyndns.org/tutorial/bios.html has instructions, but it doesn't mention the CDX

that looks like exactly what I would want...wonder if this is possible on the CDX
