So way back when (2003), Ubisoft put up some (three) free levels for Splinter Cell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Clancy%27s_Splinter_Cell#Versions) on Xbox Live. The catch of course being that you had to subscribe to Xbox Live to get them. Are these levels available by any other means? I've heard that there's an Official Xbox Magazine cover disc with one (or all?) of them on it, but I'm sure it'd be a bit of a pain to come across now a days.

Can I connect to Xbox Live to download them with simply a Silver account? Are there any other low-cost/freebie discs that had the bonus missions on them (and if so, can anyone point me in the direction to buy one)?

Worst case scenario, I'll just pick up the PS2 version and play through them on there. I'm just trying to avoid the hassle of subscribing for a month, canceling and then having to monitor my bill to make sure the account was closed out properly. Shelling out $6 for the PS2 version instead just seams more appealing in this case. I'd be totally down for resoftmodding the Xbox and manually installing the levels if need be. I'm just trying to make sure I play through everything before I move on to Pandora Tomorrow.

Also, it pains me that this almost qualifies for "Classic Gaming".

If they were only availible through XBL then modding wouldn't help you anyway. Anything taken off of XBL is signed to the system that grabbed it.

If it was on an OXM demo disc, all you would have to do is have someone send you the files, temp mod your system, and copy them over.

A quick google search says there was Downloadable content for Splinter cell on OXM GAME DISC 23 (Oct 2003). Dunno if that's it or not.

Well bummer. I've got my eye on an ebay lot that has that disc in there, so hopefully I'll score it. Probably not, but eh...

Looks like it'd be pretty easy to play 'em in the PC version, but I wasn't too huge on using the mouse wheel to control movement speed. Not that it wasn't a fan-fucking-tastic innovation, I just prefer the ol' analog stick.

Oh well, time to play the ol' wait-and-see.

There's also a promo disc with the extra levels, plus demos for a couple other Tom Clancy games. I saw it at Gamestop a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not sure if it's some sort of EB/GS exculsive.

The Pal Xbox Classics release of the game contains the levels so I presume the Ntsc greatest hits disc must aswell.

I remember that one. It's a demo disc for Rainbow Six 3. I had it years ago. It has new levels for Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder.

They're not on the "Classic Trilogy" version.
