It was great getting a chance to meet each of you folks and I'm sorry that Arnie and Joyce weren't able to make it but ill-health prevented it. The Chrisi—Kohler and Bieniek—were fantastic at our keynote, nonetheless.
Lessee, I not only met Brett Weiss, I was induced by my lovely wife Laurie to purchase a copy of his book (which, like mine, is very good but, unlike mine, is really expensive—you know how much that binding alone must have cost?). :)
Also, while it wasn't LITERALLY a first-time meeting, considering that Rawson Stovall was, like, 12 years old the last time I saw him in the 80s, I really was encountering him for the first time. Rawson was legendary in the early days of game journalism as a syndicated 10-year old game reviewer who appeared in quite a few newspapers. His parents always accompanied him to CES in his little suit and tie, but he did his own interviews and coverage.
He's now a producer at EA, btw. But seeing him all grown up and a genuinely Important Person in the game business after all these years was a total trip. He was so quiet and unassuming I hope folks at the show realized what a significant figure he was (as the child star of game journalism) and remains in the history of gaming (how many syndicated game reviewers from the 80s are producing games for a major publisher today?).

I got to see Flack, Mayhem, Jumpman Jr, Dream TR as well as Fighter 17 among a ton others. I was the dude at the NWCGE booth with the Nintendo Wii hat decked out in Nintendo gear.


I dont count meeting Billy Galaxy, Y-bot, and crew at the show, they are more like extended family to me! These guys are the best!

Fighter17... he came across, at least to me, about how he does online I must admit. I only spoke to him once really, and then a few slams back and forth as the show was coming to a close.

Old friends I caught up with: Flack, icbrkr (these two have gotta be gettin' sick of me, I only just recently dragged them up to Springfield with me!), Retroyoungen (who I didn't recognize at first because he's completely changed his look from 2005), Sniderman (who doesn't want to see my mutant toes), Rolenta (who I bugged about the Great Ted Dabney Secret until he spilled), retrogmr, Michael Thomasson from Good Deal Games, Bill Kunkel, Cav, Kobunheatforum, QOF, Mayhem (who brought me a disembodied intelligence from the future with a RRP of ~15 pounds - how many people can you say have done that for you?), Ubikuberalles, Atarigirl (for about 3.8 seconds - sorry I was on the move!), the law firm of Pantechnicon, Mezrabad & Sons (I think the whole story of the boys getting together and taking over the couch is possibly the one story that exemplifies what CGE is all about), Marioallstar2600 ("wow, he comes apart? your Snake isn't very solid then, is he?"), Ianoid (who came real close to selling me on a Tomy Tutor just to play a Tron game - my Achilles' heel), Geelw, Rick Weis, Anotherfluke (who picked one of my infamous brain-dead moments to introduce me to his girlfriend - boy, I bet I was impressive!), Seth and the lovely ladies of 8 Bit Weapon, Keith Robinson, Steve Woita & Bob Polaro, and of course Joe, Sean and John.
