Picked up Age of Empires III earlier today for $5 (everything included and discs are like new) and have been playing it for a few hours now. It's alright but certainly not worth $30 in my opinion. It would seem more so the series has gone downhill and they don't give a damn. Oh well. I see myself maybe pouring about 50-100 more hours into it.

I completed my Dreamcast Resident Evil collection today - I got Resident Evil 2 for $5. The discs are MINT. I didn't hesitate, I paid it right then and there.
Damn, good find.

I got a pretty blasted amazing thrift store find today. Sealed and LIKE NEW (NO shelf wear) PC games - one of them I've been searching for for a few years now (i.e. as long as I have ever searched for anything)!

Monkey Island 2 - a bit of box crush and some wear on the box corners, but still presentable. Contents look great. Macintosh color version! $4.99 sticker. Most expensive of the lot. Dunno how the $#^& they came up with that price but I'm okay with it.

Space Quest 6 - Roger Wilco in THE SPINAL FRONTIER - sealed.
Gabriel Knight - Sins of the Fathers - also sealed.
Wing Commander Armada - was hoping I'd hit the rare one but nope. Oh well! It's the only multiplayer WC game out there.

Starflight 2 IBM version - bah, it's not the Amiga version...but it'll do.

And...the best game of the haul:

SYSTEM SHOCK - ENHANCED, NON-E-FUCKIN'-A-CLASSICS-RERELEASE EDITION

I knew that was worth a bit even before I plunked down for it. I've been looking for that for a while, and would've eventually (desperately) plunked down on eBay and not gotten a game looking as good. That means that all I need do is get my (scratched to hell) Mac version disc working somehow, and I'm set for System Shock entirely. All I could do at this point is maybe go and find a complete copy of SS for Mac, but there really isn't a reason for that because my SS Mac disc does seem to read and install (just not play).

I decided to go out of my usual thrifting area and hit the Hurst/Euless/Haltom City, TX area.

In a resale store, I picked up Zillion II: Triformation, Action Fighter, R-Type, Fantasy Zone, Alex Kidd: High-Tech World, and Altered Beast for the Sega Master System, all loose, for $3 each.

In Goodwill, I picked up an Excalibur 64-in-1 plug-and-play for $3.

In a Movie Trading Company store, I picked up Omega Race, M.A.D., Wabbit, Piece O' Cake, Tunnel Runner, Alpha Beam with Ernie, Kung-Fu Master, Reactor, and Moonsweeper for the Atari 2600, loose, for $1.99 each (except for Kung-Fu Master, which was 99¢ for some reason). I also picked up Jupiter Strike for the PS1 (longbox) for $5.99, just because the screenshots looked cool.

On the drive home, I stopped at the Entertainmart (a subsidiary of Movie Trading Company/Vintage Stock), and picked up a bunch of Xbox games: Cold War ($2.99), Fatal Frame ($14.99), Intellivision Lives ($4.99), and a caseless (but with instruction manual) copy of Frogger Beyond for $4.99.

Really slim pickings today, hoping for better luck when I hit a few places tomorrow.........

I typed :above me: yesterday.

Slightly better finds today. One of them was the exact same copy of a game I used to own (see Daytona).

-Tetris cart for original Gameboy: $2 at Goodwill, the 6th used copy of this I have found this year (I've bought them all)
-MechWarrior 2 for Playstation 1 (disc only): $0.99 at Goodwill
-Metal Gear Solid VR Missions for PS1 (back insert only): came free with the MechWarrior 2 game
-Daytona USA for Sega Saturn (Not For Resale version): $0.99 at Goodwill, I used to own this exact same copy I bought. See the bottom of this post for the story.
-World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck for Sega Genesis (complete): $0.50 at my local second hand shop, the second copy of this game I have found locally in the past few months
-Prime Time NFL Football cart for Sega Genesis: $0.50 at the same shop above
-Barkley Shut Up and Jam cart for Sega Genesis: $0.50 at the shop above
-Barkley Shut Up and Jam 2 cart for Sega Genesis: $0.50 at the same second hand store

About Daytona (above): When I first owned a Sega Saturn back in 2000 or so, I obviously had Daytona USA in my collection. The version I had was the Not For Resale copy in a paper sleeve. Since I hate those sleeves, I took some scissors and chopped up the sleeve so I could fit the front cover into a jewel case which I put the game in. I sold the Saturn and that game through a newspaper classified ad for about $30 when I needed money badly around 2003 or so. The copy of Daytona I found at Goodwill today is the exact same copy I sold off a few years back. I know because the front cover is clipped the very same way I did it and the cd case I had was marked with a name, I see the same name on this case. Now if I could just find that original Saturn and some of my original library (just the common first party stuff) or even my controllers......ha, fat chance.

Flea Market

I almost didn't go....,I didn't get up after 5 calls my dad made to me(online gaming all night)...He actually came here to get my ass up..(he had something else he needed to do,needed my help)...It's just usually a waste to go to the small weekday flea markets.

Glad I went though..

I didn't buy shit but this..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/Pocket%20Bikes/Fleaspt2607.jpg

It was $300.00"originally"and if it worked I was going to buy it..
... I know the woman vendor and have bought a lot of stuff from her..but her husband was there today who I never met and he brought a truckload of stuff bought out from a storage center...It all was originally from a Bar that closed down..(all kinds of bar stuff there)

The interest in this table was immense but no-one wanted to wheel it to the opposite side of the lot on a roller to test it out(AC)..I did however and when plugging it in it came up with a garbled screen..The guy tried to sell me on it but I wasn't paying $300.00 for it..
So we wheeled it back and I thanked him-started to walk away then..I offered $200.00 and he said Yes,
So I wheeled it all the way back that way to the car..

I bought this in thought as fully broken,a total project for me to restore..

The machine was pretty dirty..I cleaned the crap out of it when I got home and it came up nice..the overlays are almost perfect and don't need changing,Paint this and that and it'll be up to my par....I'm going to do the whole machine up after I get it going.

After cleaning it up I fire it up and nothing comes up on screen then BAM the game comes on...It plays, works but has an issue where Mrs. Pac Man is not lining up on one side so have to figure out how to fix that..I've had the machine on all day..
All the lights work, sound .the internal fan,joysticks,buttons..

That is a nice find. It is good to hear you were the one who purchased it because a lot of the other folks who were interested probably wouldn't have been up for putting in the extra work to "fix it up."

awesome find Daryll. I WILL own a cocktail arcade some day, I just hope I don't get desperate and pay out the wazoo for it when that day comes. I'm particularly keen on a galaga/ms. pac man one that I am pretty sure exists, else I'm totally mis-remembering my youth. Hope fixing that glitch isn't too much of a pain, but even if you have to replace a bunch of the guts, it still looks like you got a nice clean, original unit to work with.

That's a beautiful cocktail Videogamerdaryll, especially for the price! I just finished a restoration / conversion myself of a Pole Position upright. Funny thing is I have it outside right now until room for it is made (under construction right now) and it freaking rained last night! It was only a quick passing drizzle and I have a towel over the top of it to keep the sun off the machine during the day (thankfully covered the vent) but it was a dicey moment this morning when I noticed the dried water droplets on the edge of the control panel. :bad-words: Thankfully it all works fine, no damage. :-D

This month so far... found a copy of parasite eve II, in good condition at a thrift store, complete for $2. Also found a copy of Steel Battalion (sans controller) at a pawn shop for $4, in great condition. Now if I can just pick up the controller for a few bucks more somewhere... yeah right. Also a GC Code Veronica X (complete) for $15 @ Blockbuster (better than the $35 it goes for on ebay). And CIB Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for $5 each at a Garage Sale.

Some nice finds. I just had to comment that I think the last line is kind of funny since I think those games have been on pretty much every system since the movies were made! I'll assume they are for GCN :ass:

Pretty good day at the sales! I'd intended to wait and post the whole week's worth, but this filled up a picture so I'm just throwing it up.

Let's see... the NES with the Satellite (which I've been looking for) and all the rest was $30, but I got the N64 (no cords :() and the stack of clear cases with the PSX games in them thrown in. The PSX games are: Ehrgeiz God bless the ring, Uprising x, Martian Gothic, Crash Bandicoot, Alien Trilogy, and disc 1 of FFVIII. The hard to ID NES game is Arkista's Ring. Tetris was a buck from yesterday.

Next up were GT, Syphon Filter, Sega Smashpack, and Ecco all for 3 bucks. That place was strange, because a bunch of DC games were $1, PSX games for $.50, and then two wrestling N64 games for $10 each. Almost all of it was sports games (or scratched to hell). There were also several consoles at fair prices, so I passed on them ;). I probably should have picked up the boxed DC fishing controller for $15, but it holds no interest for me and would be strictly re-sale.

Last the N64 w/ 3 controllers, rumble, memory, etc and 17 games for $30. Pokemon Stadium 2, Rampage, and Gemini were from a thrift yesterday.

The beer is a Surly Furious in near mint condition (I took a sip, so had to down grade it some) that my wife got me for our anniversary. A superb beer if you are ever in the Twin Cities.

Oh, and my NWC reproduction came today!!!

All in all and excellent day, and it isn't over yet...

Not finds really, more like new acquisitions. The mario paint came with the pad and mouse. The Persona 3 guides were found at a very steep discount at a local store. Should do well on ebay with those. The sake is for me and the wifey later tonite.

In addition to the TI-99/4A stuff (see individual thread), I bought more stuff, all from the same thrift store.

Complete and in excellent shape Marble Madness and RC Pro AM for NES ($3 each). They had many other cart-only games for $3, but nothing I needed or anything particularly noteworthy.

Intellivoice module brand new in box and Shark! Shark! complete ($3 each), as my "in the wild only" Intellivision complete collection continues to grow. They had more INTV complete games, but they were all commons and I had them all.

NES Action Set complete and in phenomenal condition for $40. That's about the max I'm willing to pay for one at a thrift store, considering I already have several of these. I'll probably sell this one as it gets closer to Christmas.

Someone must have donated their entire collection. I'm going back tomorrow to see if they put out any more.

The labor day flea market is in town this weekend, which is the single biggest flea market I've ever been to bar none. Big enough for them to close schools so I can spend the day hunting! I didn't get to look through the whole thing, but I did look alot of it and got:

Little Nemo: The Dream Master(NES loose 2.50)
Castlequest(NES loose 2.50)
Guerrilla War(NES loose 2.50)
Goonies II(NES loose 2.50)
Commando(NES loose 2.50)
Jackel(NES loose 2.50)
Donkey Kong(NES loose 1.00)
Wizardry(NES loose)
Legendary Wings(NES loose)
Skate or Die 2(NES loose, $5 for those three)
Sports Illustrated Football & Baseball(Gear Gear loose $3)
Super Monaco GP(Gear Gear loose $3)
Prince of Persia(GEN complete .75 cents)

Ented up passing up a bunch of other NES stuff. There was quite a few game dealers there but they were all over priced. Good day overall though.

I found a mess of loose 2600 games at the thrift the other day, but I can't even remember all of the ones I bought. I know I got Space Invaders, Waterworld: Earthquest (?), Demons to Diamonds and about 3 more. (You can tell I'm not a 2600 collector!) I did pass up a Raiders of the Lost Ark cart because it was $2.95 instead of the usual $1.55, I assume because it had Harrison Ford's picture on the label. I did pick up Ice Hockey & Double Dribble w/ sleeves & manuals for the NES for 95 cents each from the same thrift.

This morning, I went to 4 yard sales and finally found one with games. I got
Dr. Mario, Smash Bros. and Kirby: The Crystal Shards loose for N64 for $3 each.

Oh, and I bought Blue Dragon for 360 at TRU for $53.99 after I used the 15% off coupon, but after receiving my high wireless bill yesterday, it might be going right back...
