I just bought this Breakout clone for the Wii and am enjoying it a lot so far. I just can't seem to get the infinite continues cheat to work. I got the code from gamefaqs, which is to press Run + I and then Run+II at the Title Screen. I've tried doing this several times with no success, what am I doing wrong here?

nintendo disabled a bunch of the cheat codes in alot of the virtual console games so that might be your answer.

WOW, that sucks, if that's the case with this game. What's the point of doing such a thing anyway?

What, Why did they remove cheat code for, Can you still do the Minus World trick in SMB
I don't think it's true that Nintendo is removing cheat codes from the Virtual Console games. There might be one or two games where a password scheme has been changed, but most of them are exactly the same as the originals.
The Drop Off code is hard to pull off, because if you don't hit the buttons at exactly the same time, the RUN button is accepted by itself as if you're trying to start the game.
If you're using the Wii Remote, make sure you're aware that the buttons are switched. On the TurboGrafx-16 controller, the II button is on the left and the I button is on the right...but on the Wii Remote, 1 is on the left and 2 is on the right. And of course, the + button is the equivalent of RUN.
Try this method with the Wii Remote; it works for me: At the title screen, press + and 2 simultaneously, hold them down for a second, then release + before you release 2. If the game starts at this point, hold + and press - to reset and try again...but if you're still at the title screen, press + and 1 simultaneously and hold them both down until the title screen disappears. You'll know the code worked if the credits counter says "Credit X" at the continue screen.

Thanks for the tip Amos, it finally worked and it's helping a lot. I've got the cheat saved into the file and am trying to finish the game currently. Thanks for everyone's help.
