Im not 100% sure which message board this should go on since it could go on a technical board and the classic gaming board. Anywho I have a lot of emulators and roms on my laptop. Now what I would love to do is somehow connect my laptop to my television so that I could play my roms on a big screen TV instead of my small laptop screen. So I was curious if this is possible; if so what is the name of the cable/cord I would need to make this possible. Also a link to a website that sells them would be fantasic. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

cable type depends on the type of video out on your laptop!
search in google with your laptop model name, tv to laptop cable
something should come up!

So the cables are called TV to PC cables??? If I were to take my laptop to a PC store they could probably tell me what I needed and point it out to me, right? I would certainly hope so.

PP05L I think that is it, on the bottom of the laptop it says "model Number" then some japanese characters then PP05L. If you could find out what cable I need, that would be fantasic, and I'll put in a good word for you at the office. :)

which brand? I am going out for an hour now but Ill try to find out when I get back.
Basically you just need to know what port your laptop uses for an external monitor or for video out
then buy a cable with that connector on one end and the type you need for your TV on the other.
I assume it's a Latitude D600? If so, there should be an S-Video port on it, so just buy an S-Video cable and plug it into your TV's S-Video port. If you don't have S-Video on your TV, the laptop should have either come with an adapter to use composite (standard RCA cables) or you can buy one (my old Dell came with the adapter, my new one didn't).

No its not a Latitude D600. It's a Dell, Inspiron 600m and on the bottom of the laptop it says "Model Number" then some japanese characters then beside the Japanese it says PP05L.

I searched it...it should have an S-Video port on it. First of all confirm that it does. Then do what the above poster said.
Yeah, just to the right of the USB port in this pic: http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/3263.jpg . Then go to just about any electronics store and get an S-Video cable.

This is the way I show things off on my laptop such as web videos, streams and whatnot. This is actually the way most people show videos at conventions and meetings so there's no need to carry around original copies (Just need to keep your laptop within view).
In addition, to make it a better topic (that doesn't appear as a generic repair-like thread) something along the lines of "Using TV as a display" sounds better, which would fall into Off-Topic. If you're just looking at emulation uses then Classic Gaming is a decent forum to post it in.
Oh, and another side-note: Go to local thrift stores as they usually have S-video cables for $1-2 in bins. If you visit a retail store you might be looking at $8-15 for shorter cables.
