View Full Version : Uncommon NES problem

I bought an NES at a garage sale today. I already refurbished the connector so that should not give me much of a problem. What occurs is that the system only displays a blank white screen, with no sound. I am pretty sure that it is not a connector problem, because without a game inserted it blinks, like normal (although still all white on the screen). When I have a game inserted it doesn't blink, but the only thing shown is still a pure white screen. I tried cleaning the games, blowing on them, and generally doing anything I knew to get some sort of image to show up, but I had no luck. Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Thanks.

If you happen to have a spare NES system laying around try the pin connector on the other system and see if you still experience the same problem. If you don't then the problem lies with the mother board itself.

Solid screen with no sound usually suggested a short or missing pin contact between cart and console in my experience. Try another connector before you rule it out.

I guess it was the connector afterall, because messing with it a second time seemed to fix it. Perhaps it was the part the connects to the PCB that was bad.
