ok, i dunno what the deal is, maybe its just in my area, but has anyone else noticed in there local flea markets and what not, the LACK of NES, SNES, Genesis, atari, etc games that you find?? When i first got back into all this about 2 years ago, the places were flooded with them, and at good prices too. (still remember picking up Mega Man for 50 cent!) And over the last months, ive been lucky to even see the most common carts, and thats very rare. Dunno what the deal is. Only thing i can figure is, all the gaming guys like myself have snagged them all, which i very much doubt, or two, people have gotten wise, and learned that what they were selling for $1, they can now sell on ebay for $5 and more. Anybody noticed the drought?

I don't have any flea markets in my area but I have noticed a decline in the amount of games at the local pawn shops. There used to be at least 50 games at all times now there is about 5 unique games with a couple of doubles... some places have more but there are nothing but bad labels.

Up here in northern NC it's the same way. I think the state in general sucks when it comes to game collecting.
Love those beaches though!

As I have also been a dealer at a flea market, I had about 80 Unique NES games all priced under $3 over 2 weeks I sold 1 game. Therefore I just kept them in my collection and used them for trade bait. That could be another reason why theres not to many is that they were not selling all that well. So for the amount sold and the space they take up it isn't worth it to have them.

On the contrary, out here at thrift shops at least, all I can find is NES and occasionally SNES stuff. It's all the other stuff like Atari I want that I can't find anymore. Bah.

its the passing of time, lots of people went to funco to trade for PS1 games i'm sure.
its the ebay hunters
mostly though its fellow collectors, seriously. when i started the New England Gamers group i had no real idea how many other people were collecting right under my nose it turned out to be a lot! now when i go into a game shop and see nothing but commons left i know its because one of them beat me to it. luckily i've turned this negative into a positive by bringing all the local collectors together so i can pick the fruits of their searching from the comfort of my own living room. at the last meet we saw over 30 boston area collectors drop by, god only knows how many are out there that havent joined us.
try posting a thread to all the collectors in your area and see who you're up against.

I'm constantly coming across Genesis stuff, mostly crappy sports titles though. Guess I'm gonna have to start collecting for the damn thing now!

haha@ Queen..
Thats pretty much why i started collecting genesis stuff as well, for the longest time, the stuff was everywhere around here, and far cheaper than NES stuff for some reason. NOW that ive added the genny to collection, all the stuff is gone!! ARGHHHH =)

My flea markets have loads of NES carts. I mean loads. And alot of 2600 and some 5200. I even saw a boxed Intellivision 3, 2 boxed X-Band Modems ( SNES and Genny), Sega Channel adaptor.
I miss all the good stuff though. We have this guy name Igor that my friend met. At 8AM he goes to EVERY flea market in town (and we have 6) and buys anything that is rare. Doesn't matter how many he has, he buys it and keeps it, doesn't trade, doesn't sell, just keeps multiple copies.
So I really haven't gone lately. I have to work till 1 every saturday, so how can I compete with that.
I have noticed a decrease of NES at chain stores. The only place that has alot are the ma and pa stores because they give cash, but places that give credit just arn't getting them anymore. And one guy at the flea market quit bringing his NES carts. And he has About 200 unique ones he was selling. Said not enough people want them to promote him bringing them out.
It really sucks.
Hmm...now that I think about it is is drying up.....

Around here, I never see ANYTHING at flea's, and only new (PS2, Xboxen) stuffs at pawn shops... I've had three or four nice finds at thrift stores though, and that's about it.
We do, however, have a nice used gaming store.. the only problem is, as you can expect, while you can find nearly anything you want, you have to pay what it's actually worth, sometimes a little more, hehe... but, when you suddenly wake up one morning knowing that "Today, today I must have a 32x, Sega CD, and some new NES carts" it comes in handy. Sadly, those buggers ebay off most of the Intv stuff... 'cept when they mistake 'em for 2600 games and stick 'em in that pile, hehe.
