Anyone pick this up yet? I had a pre-release copy for a while, and love this game. Imagine Choplifter mixed with Command and Conquer. It's fully 2-D and you need to capture enemy bases. The more bases, the more cash. The more cash, the more ground troops you have to help with the fight.

You can rescue hostages, give air support, drop paratroopers, etc. There's not much else like it. It's a sequel to the GBA Super Army War which I plan on tracking down here pretty soon.

The concept does run its course after a while so later levels drag, and it can be brutal at times with its difficulty. It's still more than worth picking up.

I really want this and plan on picking it up soon. Can you describe more of the strategy aspect? How complex does it ultimately end up being? I'm looking for something that has "pick up and play" ease. I'm not familiar with Command and Conquer at all, so that comparison doesn't help me.

Thanks.

It's not that deep. Basically, you pull up a menu, select troops, they pop out of your main base and start marching/driving. They key is to space them out so they don't get blown up by enemy aircraft, but close enough so they can handle their own against enemy ground units.

You'll likely do far more than troops you buy will. You have no control over their actions, and they take on a support role while you fly above and knock out the advancing forces. It's very much a tug of war for land.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds right up my alley. I'm gonna look for it tomorrow. If I can't find it, I'll place an order online.

never heard of this before this post, I looked it up and it seems pretty fun, I expected it to be top down but was suprised to see it was 2D side scrolling. Heres a trailer for the game : http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23050.html looks like its non-stop action. Too bad it doesnt support some online action, seems like the perfect game for that. I probably wont buy it for $30 but in a couple of months I'm sure it will be in gamestop for under $20 used.

an Apple 2 game that was exactly like this? I remember flying around in a copter and sending troops, tanks and antiaircraft vehicles out on a 2d environment and you won by capturing the headquarters on the far left side of the screen. Anyone remember the name of that game?
