All of the Gamestops in my area just started having a sale. Buy 2 and get one free for anything used. The lowest priced item is the freebie. You can even mix and match PS2 with say N64, or NES or even DVDs.

I bought Action Man and Board Game: Top Shop and got Wipeout 3 for free on Friday with a trade-in. No money exchanged hands, and I got 90 cents back!

The manager didn't know when the promotion was gonna end, though...

Yeah, the sale hasn't been well publicized, either through print ad or the store staff. You may have to tell them to look in the register at the F7 key or check their email.

For this weekend, they are also selling NEW PS2 or XBOX systems for $189. This weekend only.

Refurb cubes are down to $100, used XBOX's are down to $140. The used sale applies to used systems as well. It is the cheapest item of the three, remember.

i also took advantage of this buy 2 get one free deal. I got Dragon Warrior 3 for $14.99, and Gargoyle's Quest 2 for $4.99, and I got Pilotwings for SNES for free! :-) those 3 games for $19.98, that's a great deal. Too bad they wouldnt let me use the discount card though!

Yeah, when I went in they were only too happy to sign me up for a GI subscription with the fact that I could use the card then and there. Not such a bad deal, all things considered (finally got DC KOF'99 Dream Match, whoo hoo!)

We have been instructed to allow people signing up for the Discount card apply the discount to that transaction, but those with existing cards could not combine both the "Buy 2 get 1" and the 10% off.

Besides, you're getting a free game here, why piss and moan over a few measly bucks?

If I wanted to piss and moan about Gamestop I'd start talking about the embarassing trade in value they put on videogames.

When you're already getting something for free, especially when that free item probably costs more then your discount card would save you. Just be happy that you're able to get that game free.

I just don't see why people can't be content with a free game out of the deal.

I'll tell you why...

In 3 of the stores I went into, there were NO signs advertising this promotion, in the other 2 the employess had hand-writted simple signs. There was NOTHING explaining the terms of the offer. kind of hard to have restrictions when there are no signs explaining them.

Also, I paid $10 to get a 10% discount...then I come into the store and see you're giving 33% off (essentially that's what B2G1 free is) to EVERYONE! What did I pay the $10 for then if I could get 33% off without paying anything! If I paid to sign up for the card, (and to allow you to track my purchases) I better darn well be getting more of a discount than the normal folks!

I almost had an issue with EB when I picked up a stack of coupons in Taco Bell offering 10% off used games (the same as their card), then I noted that this 10% could be used on TOP OF their Edge card...good show!

Besides, to it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Gamestop employees would go on about how great their discount card was when they were trying to convince me to sign up for one.

If the card was really all that special then they should take care of their good returning customers who have one rather than penalizing them.

The Gamestop by me has only one sign about it on on their racks when you first walk into the store. other then that the employees tell you about the sale.

Found Mega Man 5 at my Babagges today...refused to pay $15 for it.

Then get it somewhere else. Shop around, find it cheaper, and buy it there. EB & Gamestop don't care if you refuse to buy it. Someone will, who really wants that game, and to them it is worth $15.
