I have an N64, I'd like to trade for a Genesis- 1st Generation. It doesn't have to be in perfect shape... just somewhat clean and working. I don't care about scuff marks or anything. It just needs the power cord and A/V or RF cable (Preferably A/V). N64 has AV cable and power cord and jumper pack. It has a few scuffs and is in fairly clean condition. I'll provide a picture, if you want. If a controller is needed, I can include one from my N64. Looking for a straight trade- I pay to ship to you and you pay to ship to me. I haven't been a member here for very long, but I have an ebay account that I've had since 1999 and have 115 feedback, that is 100%. Thanks a lot. Here is my ebay feedback link.

(edit) And as it was brought to my attention... just a genesis 1 will do...

I've got a spare Genesis Model 1. But I have plenty of N64 systems. I could use controllers or expansion packs though. Or if you have games available that would work too.

Thanks

I have a handful of games that I want to hold on to... And I have only four controllers and no extra expansion packs... I guess it sucks a little because there seems to be a lot of N64s and not enough people who want them... Oh well... Thanks for offering, but I jut don't have a lot of spare stuff for the N64. In case I do come across some n64 stuff, I'll keep you in mind though.

I'm interested in games for almost every system. So if you have anything else available that would work aswell.

Thought I had someone to trade with, but it didn't work out... so I'm still in the market to trade my N64 for a genesis with a power cord and av cable. So, I hope someone could help me out.

I'll try to help. Are you just looking for a plain old Genesis 1 (first model) or are you specifically looking for the very early variation of the Genesis 1 that is far less common but apparently plays anything you'll throw at it? It makes a bit of a difference here.

I mean the one with a headphone jack and the words 16-BIT on it. I know there was a genesis 2 and 3, but I heard those werent compatible with some games... Yeah I'm really looking for the big one... I don't know if there are many variations of that one... but any version of the original genesis will do (just not the 2 and three)

A bit off-topic, but what, exactly, is this very early variation?

You have me... I thought there were only 3... But I've never owned a Genesis...

Ok, yeah there were two different variations of that Sega Genesis model. This blurb below will fill you in.

SEGA GENESIS MODEL 1

"The Sega Genesis hit the market in August of 1989. Its first pack-in game was Altered Beast. The model number of this first Genesis is 1601, and it does NOT boot with the "Produced By or Under License by Sega of America..."

The next model of Sega Genesis to be made available was the 1602, which included the first licensing message."

Something like that.

From what I know, that initial version of the Genesis 1 allowed you to play imports and various unlicensed games that you could pop right in without using something as a convertor and without modding your console.

So yeah, two versions of the Genesis 1 and the initial release of the Genesis 1 was compatible with a lot more games than the other models, including the later revision of the first Genesis.

Hopefully that makes sense. But if it is a regular Genesis Model 1 you're looking for, I have one that comes with everything but the power cord. I'd have to check it and see if it works. Maybe someone else will offer one up, now that we know that you're just looking for the regular Genesis 1 and aren't after that very early version of it.

First 4 paragraphs here will do the trick.

Some Model 1 Genesis consoles power up with a screen saying "Licensed by Sega" but the very early ones do NOT. I'll let Melf explain it, though, just check out the link.

If you are willing for a straight trade and the thing works, I'm more than happy. Don't care about imports or anything, just regular liscenced US releases. Just let me know. By the way, thanks for the info- consider me educated now- and it all makes perfect sense.

I guess a lot of people have an n64 or don't want one so here is what else I have to offer (although not much)

Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube... No manual- just a clear case and Game
2 Vintage NES controllers- good shape.
Matcatz wired PS2 controller
Wave Race for the Gameboy
or An Ocarina of time manual for the N64
Original Gameboy with lines in the screen... good for other parts though because it is in good shape
And a copy of the game Steel Battalion (XBOX) minus the controller.

Trying to do a straight trade though because of money concerns. Thanks for looking.

Yes, happy to help. I learned about it myself when I sold three or four Model 1 Genesis 1 systems on Ebay, only to have people ask which version it was, the one with the "Licensed by Sega" screen or the one without it. Only difference is that the earliest version goes for a few dollars more, obviously. Apparently there is some demand for that first edition on Ebay, at least there was a year or two ago anyway.

Let me test the system I have and I'll get back to you about it either later tonight or tomorrow during the day.

Did you get a chance to test the system?

Did you get a chance to test the system?

Yes, I did. I apologize for the late reply. Working all day and putting up with strong thunderstorms pretty much nonstop all week long at night left me unable to test it until an hour ago. Wish I'd had a chance sooner.

System powers up and plays fine. In good shape on the outside. Headphone jack is working good, so is the volume control. I almost don't want to trade it because the Double Dragon Level 1 theme sounds GREAT through headphones :wink 2: (Genesis has a killer version of the original Double Dragon arcade game) Just kidding, I'll still let you have it. Heh heh. I have three other Genesis systems left over (another Model 1 and two Model 2's) so I don't mind. This one is just a spare I picked up in my travels, for a "just in case." I don't usually pass up Genesis systems in the wild when they are under $10.

Back on topic: Got an official Sega RF cord, could include an official Sega 3-button controller if you need one. Got good feedback here. The AC adapter may be a little trickier but if you don't have one and can't come by one, I'll be able to send you one, I think. Drop me a line via PM. We'll go from there.
