View Full Version : Panic! (Sega CD) / other formats?

One of the games I really got a kick out of when it came out was Panic! for the Sega CD. Even though it had no real gameplay per se, it had great style and quirkiness to it with some (occasionally) obscure and zany Japanese humor.
Having recently sold my Sega CD system, this is one of the games I regret no longer being able to pop in and play, even though I had seen all the gags and knew what was coming, etc.
My question is: Does anyone here know of any other format(s) this game was released in or if perhaps there was even a sequel made to this game? The likely system I'm guessing is possibly import PS1. Or better yet, is this game emulated in some form anywhere that I could play it today? Any help would be much appreciated....:)

It was remade for import PS2, with the title of Switch (also the original Mega CD title).

I didn't know this game existed, but it looks kind of fun to me.

Funny you should bring this up as I've been playing the PS2 version. It's exactly the same except instead of blowing up buildings, the game cuts to 3D models of the places (that look like they could be featured in a DeVry commercial) that erupt in shit. No, I'm not kidding.

Sounds like the only positive thing to come as a result of 9/11 to me.

This is a crazy game that really doesn't get enough attention. I always thought it more resembled Monty Python-esque humor than anything. I didn't know about the PS2 version... I'll have to check that out.

PS2 version is nice, the resolution seems to be upped a tiny bit. The strange thing is the opening movie is really badly encoded, when I think it was all sprites on the Mega-CD version. Trying to find a copy online lately has been hard, I had to have a friend of mine search for it when he went to Japan last year and he said they had a lot of copies in the Tokyo area. Also if you have HD loader it works perfectly with no lockups (PS I buy all my games and load them to my HD before anyone thinks I am a pirate). Worth the price if you can find it for under $20, given the fact that it is the same game, just with slightly better graphics.

I noticed the same thing about the intro movie.
Got mine at Sofmap for 680 yen. :D

I was under the impression that the PS2 version of Switch was actually just a DVD game similar to those versions of Dragons Lair and Space Ace that you can play on your DVD player, except that it's labeled as a regular PS2 game. Is this not the case?

Not the case.

You'd think it wouldn't be too difficult to manage, though.
