View Full Version : I'm finding myself wanting a Neo Candy

So, I got my MVS (first arcade machine) just a few weeks ago. It was originally going to go in my room, but couldn't fit around the stair landing (stupid 35.5" depth...), so it's kept in the downstairs den, which is fine. The only problem is, I still want an arcade machine in my room :)

So, what I'm thinking of doing is, a few months down the line, getting a Super Neo Candy from Matsui, should he ever get anymore in stock. The reason for the Candy is that it is quite a bit smaller--only 24x29x52"--and can easily get up my stairs.

Does anyone here have a Candy? How do you like it? Are they hard to find without cracks in the plastic? Or, should I forgo getting another MVS and get another system? If that's the general recommendation, I'd need help finding one that's 25" wide (or less) and 30" deep (or less). Height isn't as much of an issue, but under 6' would work best.

If you are going to buy from Matsu, make sure you DON'T ship with Steven's Global. I bought a Super Neo 29 from Matsu and it came smashed to bits, many people had the same problem around the same time I did. With shipping it cost me about $1,100 and I only got $600 back from the insurance. Matsu is a great guy, but ask him to ship it with ANY other company. There are some good recommendations for shipping companies over on the Neo boards if you are looking for suggestions.

Were you the one with the topic just recently about a smashed Candy on the Neo forums? That sucks. After reading that topic, I decided I'd probably pick it up myself. He's in southern California, right? I drive down there every year.

Funny story, that was actually my twin brother (goes by BeaglePuss on the Neo boards). I'm actually not a member over there myself as I pretty much focus on the NES, he is more of the Neo type. But yes, that was my (more like "our") cab that was smashed to bits. He has a really nice 4 slot still, I have yet to get another candy but I've been looking around. Matsu is in So Cal, and had the cab not been smashed in shipping it would have been MINT. Definitely the way to go.

Ah, would that I had the money right now. It'll still be months before I can get one. Thanks for the info, though.
