Am I hallucinating?
I seem to recall that Messiah manufactured and offered for sale on their web site new power adapters for the NES and SNES. These had the brick adapter part up on the cable so that the plug itself was just a regular small two-prong thing. I kept meaning to order these and now I can no longer find them on their site.
Did they use to offer these and no longer do? Was it someone else that offered them? Did anyone make anything like that for the SMS/Genesis/Sega CD/32X?

Whether or not you're hallucinating, you can easily find an adapter in that style to power it. If I remember correctly, the NES can safely handle up to 12 volts, AC or DC. Research that a little bit in case I'm wrong, which I very well could be:eek 2:.
EDIT: I researched it for you, and I was actually right. http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/nes_mod/nes_mod_en.php#supply

OSG has all remaining Messiah NES/SNES 'non-wall wart' AC adapters now. You can find them at OSG Depot game stores.

Well I'm glad to know that they did at least exist at one point so I'm not going crazy. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be in Alberta anytime soon so I guess I can't pick up one.
Does anyone know of any equivalent adapters that will work for the NES and SNES (and Master System/Genesis/Sega CD/32X if possible)? I am rapidly running out of sockets for plugs and being able to plug a simple two-prong thing in would let me recover three or four.

OSG ships worldwide, so e-mail us if interested.

Just a fair warning, from personal experience.
At a local store nearby, they have some after market NES power supplies. As I had just gotten a Sega CD with no cords (pretty much for free), I bought one of these and swapped it with the adapter currently on my NES, a combo unit for the NES, SNES, and Genesis. I checked to see that it still turned on, then didn't play the NES for about 2 months.
Last night, I was trying to play Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, and it wouldn't start. The best I could get was a horribly garbled version of the bell sound, but it was usually the flickering screen. So I tried it with a bunch of other games, none of which worked either. Long story short, after wracking my brains, I remembered the new adapter; I swapped them out again, and the NES magically started working.
Luckily, I don't need this cheap POS one anymore, as I found a Sega-brand AC unit for the SCD.
Here are the specs printed on the label:
INPUT: AC 110V 60Hz
OUTPUT: DC 9V 300mA
I'm not sure if it's just something weird with my NES, or what, but this adapter, at least, didn't work at all. (No, it wasn't one with the transformer "in the middle").

That's all hunky dory, but the Messiah adaptors were designed for the NES and Super NES (in fact, one of them is plugged into my Super NES at this moment). Besides, Messiah's products (including the NEX once you move past the NOAC issue) are all well-constructed. (I just wish they'd move to controllers for other classic systems.)

This adapter was "designed" for the NES, too. I'm sure some after-market adapters work (I'm using a different one right now, actually). All I'm saying is they don't all work.
