I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good website or other reference that chronicles the different emulators (especially arcade ones: i.e. MAME, RAINE), or perhaps even shows an emulator "timeline"?

The release notes of each emulator provide a pretty good history of the individual emulators.

Yes, but only if you can find them, which would exclude anything not released anymore, of which there are 100's.

That site has a lot of info for old stuff. It started with Dave Spicer in 1995 or so with his original release of Sparcade, which I think was not called that at first. I think it was called davarcad.exe or something like that. :0

who is nicola? I remember that name when mame had only a handful of games.
