I've been reading a lot about the cards but I'm not 100% clear on the purpose of these cards. What is the advantages of having these cards?

Prizes!! Free Stuff!! Easy Money!!

Well, there are two ways you can use them:

1. By scanning them with the E-Reader
2. By writing "letters" to your villagers containing the code

When you scan them, you'll get a letter sent to your house from the animal that was on the card and it contains an item. While you may have this item already in your catalog, you might not. It could have taken months for it to randomly show up in Nook's shop. (Note: it is also easy as hell to scan cards, sell the merchandise, and pay off your mortgage)

Same with the code, but the items between the code and scanning are different. The animal on the card doesn't have to be in your town either. Say you want to send a letter to "Bill" but Bill doesn't live in your town.... but Scoot, Peanut, and Groucho do, you just pick one at random and put in "Bill's" code and you'll magically recieve a letter from Bill with an item a day or so later.

Typing in the codes is a pain in the ass since "the keyboard doesn't work with Animal Crossing" but I haven't actually ran into anyone that has tried yet, so to me, until I try for myself, it's just hear-say.

Sibling cards have two scans and two codes each.

Music Cards are used to change the town tune.

Design cards allow you to use the pre-fab designs in Sable & Ables.

Human cards: I've got no idea, I haven't actually tested these out yet.

Are they really worth the money? :hmm:

If you play AC, yes because there's some stuff on there you can't get any other way (bar trading with someone who has it). Plus I think they will become highly collectable in the future...

This may sound dumb... but... the animal on the card you don't get in your town or whatever?

Well, at some point you might. There is a limit to 15 animals at one time in your town, so you might not have "Bill" yet, but you could in like 2 years. But some of the characters on the cards are islanders, so you'll only have one of them. Dobie lives on my island, so I'll never have Ankha, but it doesn't really matter as I can't directly send a letter to them anyhow.

Well, see, that's wht only reason I WANTED the cards is I wanted to get Ankha. She's cool. I love cats and I have a big interest in Egypt. :D

Well, good luck. Out of the 20-30 series one packs I opened, I didn't get Ankha once. I had to resort to buying her off eBay for $14 :embarrassed:

After months of searching for Animal Crossing e-cards, I finally found some at my local Loblaws supermarket. Since the price was low, I bought all the packs they had (not that many... 6). It's the 3rd series, and I have only one double (what's his name... the policedog who stays outside).

AC has taught me something interesting: before SMB was released, the game library on the NES was rather so-so, either arcade translations (which were the good part) or sports games (Excitebike is good, but who wants to play NES tennis? I don't.).
