I found this Special Edition last week at a book shop at the Airport and decided to buy it. Here's the list (the book is 260 games which covers many illustrations and large descriptions about all games listed).

Note:They didn't want to fill the list with multiple iterations of the same series if they were of the same template. So, for example, you'll find only one of Mario's 2D platform games (No, Yoshi's Island is not a Mario game. Not really).

I hate “top 100” lists. They are often temporary due to many of the games on the list becoming aged and non playable in the future (example: I imagine that a list from 1997 would'nt apply today for the most part). It also has to do with the age of the writers/voters.

The only way to really do a “top 10-100” list is to do it by systems. For every person that thinks that Zelda OoT is the best game ever made, there are probably 10 that don’t feel the same way.

At the back of the book there are Ten Top 10's (by genre) and an old Top 100 list from January 2000.

This one isn't too bad. A little bit too much recent stuff, but still good. Nice to see Chrono Trigger making the list. And Ikaruga :)

Yeah, this is one of those lists that I don't think is totally moronic. They made a lot of choices that I would have made. I don't think RE4 should be #2 but I do definitely think it should be on the list. Most of these are games that had an impact on me, if I played them. There's nothing on here that makes me go "what the hell?!!" I'm really suprised.
