Rescued a Saturn from a local game shop they'd nearly forgotten they had it poor thing was covered in dust and had been there for some time. Just RF and an after market controller with it-no box. Tons of scratches. Built June 1996. So far I've replaced the lithium battery and got the dust off the outside of it and ordered an S video cable for it. But I need some help:
I need a different back battery cover since this one says bitch on it and also coudl someone help with taking the system apart to clean it? Its full of dust and grime (even hairs!) scratches or not as long as I can clean the inside out and replace the bitch door thatd be great
Oh and the cd door sticks could that be fixed? Hell I may even pay shipping and repair costs if someone could do it for me

Cleaning the system shouldnt be that bad. Some good Isopropal alchol, a can of air, and some time and a vaccum.
Heck, if you want I can clean it up for you for like $10 + two way shipping. PM me.

Yeah, cleaning is easy. Just make sure you have on some sneakers for the rubber on the bottom of them, and just go to work. Q-tips alcohol and a hour or two depending on how much time you want to give it, you will have that thing looking pretty good. What you may also want to look into is lubing the guide rails, but I am not the one to tell you what type of grease to use. But yeah, blast that mother with some air, squeegee it clean, let it dry, and do such things as lubing the guide rails, and then you would be set to go.

It's funny I read this. I just brought one back to life by taking it apart and tinkering a bit. Here's my thread on that:

Do I need a special screwdriver (don't have the system handy to see) will dedust and scrub it soon. Also anyone know where I can get an entirely new case for it? OR a good parts place? its really scratched up

I am sure that eBay may have what you are looking for - it never hurts to search!

Tried a number of stores and ebay and still haven't found any parts I dont just want to clean the inside of the system but the outside somewhat as well at least that battery door that says bitch...so a new battery door would be good.

I use windex and Orange cleaner on all the outsides of the systems I clean, mainly windex and a toothbrush with paper towels. With enough scrubbing, you can take away any mark, how ever, I have not experimented with other things which is what one needs to do to find out what works best with these things.

I'll try some more scrubbing cause if not then a battery door is gonna run me 5 bucks and a new case even more

Don't ever go near a circuit board with a vacuum cleaner...

system is finished! New battery door, fewer scratches, fixed the lid so it closes like new and cleaned the insides of all dust/dirt etc and its running through s video now as well instead of RF or composite.

Rock and roll, good job. Glad to see a do-it-your-selfer get rewarded after hard work! ::Thumbs Up::

Congrats on finishing your project!
IF you've still got it may I have the old battery door? I'd pay shipping, of course, and I don't have one at all <sigh>
Or could you please send me a link via PM as to where you purchased your new one?
Thanks much!
