Hey fellow DP'ers this coming December or January I will be going to be moving to the Nashville, Tennesse area for roughly eight months to a year. So I was wondering if anyone on here was from that area? Also does anyone know the name of any good video game stores for classic games?

There's a few, but most of them are way overpriced. You might have more luck just going to my garage/flea market

Like Dream said most of over priced... The best one I've found is Great Escape, they have two locations in Nashville and one about an hour away in Bowling Green KY.. The Madison location, which is still considered part of Nashville, has the best prices of the two in Nashville, the downtown location has better selection but they've started pricing stuff based on Ebay..
Final Fantasy 7 used to be $20 to 30, but now they price it at $70+.
There are a few more, I would have to dig out all my business cards for them, but nothing really special.. Game Trader in Murfreesboro has a lot but way too expensive, higher than Ebay on some things...

The Great Escapes are awesome. Used video games, comic books, lots of geek stuff. Prices are good too.
And not too far from the Great Escape in Madison, there's another shop, I think it's called Game Trader. They have a pretty good selection of cartridges. but they're a little on the pricey side.

There's also a couple of places in Murfreesboro called Digital Planet, which are VERY overpriced, but you do find diamonds in there (mint Bonk's Adventure the other day)
Also, the one that has the MOST classic titles is Sean Kelly's brother's store in Gallatin called Video Games Etc....He definitely has the best prices....

Dream,
How much did you pay for the Bonk's Adventure?

PSerge: I paid 19 and sold it for 60 the very same day.....

I second The Great Escape. But the one on Broadway is far superior to the one in Madison.
And stay far away from any game store near Hickory Hollow mall. Not just because they totally rip you off, but for your own safety.
Actually, I'd just stay far away from Antioch as possible.

diskoboy: Are there actually any classic gaming stores in Antioch anymore?
I thought that once GameXchange closed, only EB games and Gamestops were left in Antioch..

Oh yeah... I forgot GameXchange shut down. So did the Funcoland by the Krogers, up there.
No - I don't think there are any classic gaming stores left out there.
I still wanna know what happened to all those games at GameXchange, after they closed... That store was amazing, they were just in a bad spot. The only place in town you could find Channel F games...

I did find a sweet deal at the Toys 'R Us out at Hickory Hollow. I found Resident Evil 2 for the N64 on clearance for $1.50. This was early '05 and I just went ahead and bought them all for trade bait. Walked away with about eight sealed copies I believe. Has it gotten dangerous out that way? I live in Memphis and I visit ya'lls neck of the woods about once or twice a year. Everywhere I've been in the greater Nashville area seems pretty good to me, especially compared to things around here. Franklin and Brentwood are usually my fave spots to hang out, but downtown is cool too. We don't have any good game stores left here. It's all EB/gameslops and big box retailers. There is 1 indie shop left on Summer Avenue, but the owner is a grumpy old con artist who I prefer not to do business with. WAY jacked up prices and boxes on the wall that you don't get if you buy the game. I know some will say his store, his rules. But if he's asking $20 for a game that's worth $5, then the box should damn well be included. Glad you guys still have some variety and competition out that way. Dream I'm coming to check out your market the next time I head east :) Cheers!

That Toys R Us is gone now. It's kind of sad, actually. When I was a kid, I used to buy all my toys there. I honestly wasn't surprised to see it go. The last several times I was out that way, and TRU was still open, the parking lot would be completely empty. Best Buy took over the building, and I think Circuit City (the one next to the old GameXchange) moved in Best Buy's old location.
Yeah. Antioch is a pretty bad area now. And the Madison/Rivergate area is slowly getting there...

Hey guys, some other information that would help for when I move down there is where I can find some pawn shops and flea markets. Also I need a list of places that I can buy new friends.... *cries quietly in the corner*

There's pawn shops all over the place. Just drive around....There's a good one where I live in Smyrna.
Diskoboy: I don't think Antioch is THAT bad. I've been there at least a dozen times, and I think the biggest issue was since that game store shooting a few years back, everyone thinks that the area is just worse and worse when in reality Nashville has a lot more violent crime than Antioch. Antioch also has the only two decent arcades in the Nashville area, but I do need to visit this classic one I hear about in Bellevue...
I lived in Los Angeles. I would compare Antioch to a mix of Van Nuys/Inglewood, but those places in LA were MUCH worse, so I think for what people see in Tennessee, Antioch is a nightmare. There are places near the Nashville Airport (some off Harding Place) that I would think are much worse....

The 6 months I had an apartment out there, my car got broken into 3 times in one month. I try and steer clear of staying there for too long. But I do happen to like Snookers, too. They've got a great mix of classic games and newer ones.
I think they closed the arcade in Bellevue. Unless they opened a new one in that eyesore of a dead mall. There used to be a good Tilt there when the mall was booming back in the early 90's. And there was one by the Captian D's, if that was the arcade you were thinking of - that one is gone.
The Sir Pizza there has a Centipede...

MarioMania: It was NES.
Diskoboy: Bellevue opened one where the Disney Store is....most classics AFAIK.
Snooker's is ok, just needs some freaking people to play me at the fighters. I swear, this city is DEAD for that.

I have also wondered what happened to all the games the GameXhange had.. I mean they literally had hundreds of copies of Super Mario/ DuckHunt and various other classic games.. I liked them because they had almost all different systems covered, Sega, Nintendo, Atari, TurboGrafx, you name it.
So Diskoboy, where in Nashville do you live now?

Thanks for all the posts and information guys/gals. When I move down to TN I'll let everyone know, and maybe some of us DP'ers could get together and go game hunting for the day together, I think that would be great. It would let me in on where to find games, also it would give me the chance to meet people since I wont know anyone or have any friends.

Right on the Brentwood/Davidson county line.
I'm about to move though. Lease is up in a month and a half.
I'm checking out condos near cool springs.
