What's Up PS2 importers? Recently I picked up Space Harrier II (basically a Space Harrier compilation), Metal Slug Complete, RYU GA GOTOKU (Yakuza in the US), and an Evangelion Pachinko Simulator.

What are you guys playing?

I am looking to buy RYU GA GOTOKU 2 when the price drops down, and I can't wait for that Samurai Spirits Neo-Geo Online collection!

That's some cool stuff you imported.

I like to import PS2 stuff from the UK, Europe or Australia.

My recent imports:

Tengai (Psikyo SHMUP)
Samurai Aces (Psikyo SHMUP)
Tomb Raider Anniversary: Collector's Edition
Zombie Hunters (Onneechanbara 2)
Rhythmic Star (eyetoy/ddr type rhythm game)
Sword Of Destiny (Japan/Europe only game similar to Devil May Cry)
Dragon Sisters (beat em' up goodness)
Lemmings (eyetoy enabled Lemmings hijinks)
Psyvariar (SHMUP, sold out everywhere else I look)

I haven't played any PS2 imports in some time (well, I'm on vacation anyway for the summer and have no PS2 of any kind to play, regardless), but most of my importing for it has been games that eventually came out in the US. Actually, I only recently got a US PS2, so it was Japan-only for me for a few years (but it did get a lot of use for Japanese PS1 games as well). I initially bought the system to play the original Japanese release of Star Ocean 3, which was long before the Director's Cut version and even longer before the US localization of that. I got tri-Ace's other PS2 games as soon as they came out in Japan (Radiata Stories, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria), and I've gotten some budget releases of old games (Akumajou Dracula, Monster World Complete Collection). And just to round things out, I got the new Cho Aniki. :P

I think it is really insane how nice the software library for the PS2 turned out. Back when it looked like Dreamcast was stomping all over PS2 in the realm of 2D games, we are getting some of the greatest, truest compilations ever for this system.

The Neo-Geo Online series is so nice. Garou Mark of the Wolves, Last Blade 1&2, and soon, Samurai Spirits 1,2,3,4,&5. Space Harrier Collection. Metal Slug Collection.

Metal Gear Anniversary Boxset.

Not to mention that the PS2 can play PS1 games, and the game prices are rarely super high.

Then you have the western style games like Grand Theft Auto Series, the Godfather, Scarface, The Sopranos etc.

Some of those might end up being better on the 360/PS3, but still this system turned out to be really great to me, and I hope to complete my collection of wanted games within the next couple of months.

I really hope Sega releases an Outrun compilation similar to the Space Harrier II collection, with arcade perfect ports of Outrun & Outrun Turbo rather than the piss-poor updated versions.

Fire Pro Wrestling R was pretty damn fun. Nothing to unlock, but still really top-notch.

However, my flip-top modded PS2 is currently dying, it would seem. Just a fore-warning: A Japanese PS2 might be the best way to go.

Unless you get Euro imports, too, because then you'll need a Euro version PS2.

I've been playing Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princesse more than anything else lately, although I don't know how to unlock the original game. I've also been playing the first two Taito Memories games even though I own the two U.S. compilations.

I also like Gigawing Generations, Earth Defense Force 2 and The Shooting (aka Shienryu).

Treasure Box is excellent but has some sound emulation issues compared to originals. Still, lots of nice features. I too have been seeking the SFZ set, but it's been getting more and more expensive over the past 4 months and I really missed the boat when I could've saved around $20 about 3 months ago.
