I have a great working Modded Sega Saturn. Works great BUT the exterior is pretty badly scuffed up. I am thinking of doing my first console painting job soon, I'm no expert but I just wanted opinions on peoples personal preference for a color scheme. I want it to look different but nice, I have a prefrence to green, like a Forest Green with black lines/trim however I would more opinions on this. If YOU could have a Sega Saturn custumized paint job what would it be? Thanks for your thoughts! FYI I will probably do up one of my Dreamcast to match...................

the saturn I just acquired is pretty banged up to and someone wrote bitch on the battery door I'm looking into either a new black case or I can get one prepaiinted in solid colors. Not sure of color maybe blue or red for me or white with the buttons and logo different colors?

LOL at the battery door. XD
Anyways, if I could, I'd get it really customized, like a total graffiti type paintjob. :)

Hm, well I DO want to do it myself but I'm not that talented, I think a
two tone color scheme will be the best I can do, I'm just trying to come
up with something good but also maybe different, like maybe orange with black tiger stripes?..........................

I think that the black tiger stripes would be cool too, and easier to do than the graffiti style.

I have a spare Saturn I don't plan on selling and have been thinking about painting it blue and adding details in yellow, red and some other flashy colors. Don't worry about talent though because once you paint it you're putting your personality into it and selling off the system would be a bit odd, and actually many stores around here won't take a painted system simply because they don't know what else you may have done to it.

Hey oldschool. My dad actually owns a autobody shop and have had a good bit of experience painting systems, nes carts etc. And i can give ya some advice>
1. Always take everything apart. Try to stay away from taping off lines etc, because they normally dont come out too good.
2. You should defintly scuff up the entire plastic so the paint will stick and not peel off. I use a scotch brite pad. 1500 grit.
3. Whenever i paint stuff i always use a base coat clear coat application for best results. Lay down your base, and then clear coat it. Although i was using top of the line RM Auto Paint, which is far different than something in a spray can.
4. I guess you could use a brush but it wont look as sweet as if you sprayed the paint on.
But either way i would try and stay away from spray paint as it doesnt look very good. And if all else fails and you still want it done professionally, lemme know and i could do it for ya, for the price of paint materials etc, (which isnt too cheap unfortunately) But i could get ya any color, metallics etc.
Oh and if i had a color sceme in mind, it would be probably like a pearl white, with red and black buttons, that would look sweet. Hope this helps some. :-)

I painted(White) a Hori Pro Stick case with that stuff, and it looks great! Except? I need to clear coat it or something, the damn paint feels tacky? It's dry but isen't at the same time. Whare you'd rest your wrists as your using it.
Damnest thing? Sure looks good though.

The only video game item I ever painted was my extra Saturn Stunner light gun. Painted it all black except for a sweet looking line of orange that I left unpainted. As for consoles... somehow I feel like I would be ruining them if I painted one (even if it was a good paint job)-- plus I usually sell any duplicate systems I get and a paint job certainly doesn't help resale value. However, I can speak from experience that forest green is a ridiculously ugly color for the Saturn. I once bought a huge lot of Saturn stuff from a guy and got a system with it-- the lid and bottom half of the console were all painted forest green. Huge eyesore. But hey, to each his own, go for it if that's the color you want.

This is actually the ultra-rare "bitch" model; highly sought after by collectors. If it is severely banged up and the word "bitch" has some slight smudging, then it's in mint condition.

Its your Sega Saturn, whats it matter what other people think. If you think forest green and black work for you, then go for it. Just do whatever you think looks good.

Plus, you can always repaint it again afterwards, so it's worth a try.

Of course that's the obvious solution BUT to be honest I was interested in opinions because I wanted to consider color combo's I had not thought of,
of course in the end it's ultimately my decison but although GREEN is my personal favorite color I am still considering others and as I get suggestions I am picturing them in my head. Also, thanks everyone for all your suggestions and tips too!
