Is there a list anywhere of console variations? For example I know that there are many different Atari 2600's, two NES's, two SNES's, 3 Genesis's, etc. There are also special versions of the XBOX such as the Halo and Mountain dew edition. Is there a site the anyone can recommend that would show all console variations?

Well counting the X'Eye and CDX there's 5 Genesises. Probably more crazy obscure things I don't know about :P

Actually 7! Genesis Model 1, 2 and 3, Nomad, CDX, X'Eye, Wondermega... heck we can go on with the Amstrad PCs with a build in Genesis, and isn't there the laserdisc addon?

Well, I was thinking about just US released variations. Also, I am not sure I would be counting clones for my records. Just color variations or limited releases or button variations. I used to have two Saturns that were nearly identical except for the buttons were shaped different and had a different font style. I would like information going as far back as probably Atari and up to the most recent systems.

www.vidgame.net turned out to be exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. Thank you.

There's also that IBM PC/Megadrive hybrid. I think it's called TeraDrive.

The Resident Evil addition too, and a Christmas one.

Correct. They cost alot if you want to get one though. It was released with outdated hardware... like the processor was two generations behind -_-,,

oh yea there's also the Aiwa CSD-D1M, portable CD boombox with a sega cd and Genesis add on.

there were 3 differnt varients on the genesis model one as well:

originaly with "high definition graphics" and 16 bit
the one without the high definition graphics but still had 16 bit
and the third without either. (also made with cheaper plastic)

The only ones I know of for the U.S. are the regular one and the Sega Sports. The only other U.S. release that could even be close to being considered in this category is the Holiday pack that came with red and green controllers, but that was just a normal run-of-the-mill console and from what I recall even the controllers were just off-the-shelf colored pads.

The Sonic system you're referring to is probably the 10th Anniversary promotional system that was a promotional giveaway in Europe. Some people say Sega of America gave away one (1) of them, too, and that would probably be an NTSC model, but I've never seen any confirmation that it actually happened...would be a pretty damn rare LE if it does exist, though. There's something like 50 of the PAL ones.

There were a couple other promotional LEs given away by Sega in Europe--specifically in Germany from what I've read--but they were actually airbrush mods (very nice ones) of off-the-shelf consoles so I'm not sure they count in this same category. I've seen ones for ChuChu Rocket, Resident Evil, Jet Set Radio and it seems like at least one other game.

Now, if you want to get into the Japanese LEs, there was tons of them released over there. I can think of about a dozen off the top of my head and I'm sure there's plenty more that I don't even know about.

Something I wonder... The last Dreamcast ever made was signed by the people at Sega. What ever happened to that one?

I forget which issue of GamePro it was but they were giving it away in a contest. I think it included all of the first party titles too....I'd have to dig through the GamePros I have to be certain on that part of it. But i'm 100% certain about the contest giving away the signed Dreamcast.

Yes it was Gamepro... I remember entering the contest. I'd look through the 2001's. I think I might have thrown away mine.
