Wowzer writes to mention that MTV is planning to invest over $500 million in video games over the next two years. In addition to incorporating games into all new programming plans, MTV is also seeking "ways to link their upcoming game Rock Band to its traditional cable networks and Web properties. But they are fearful of alienating players by cramming TV and other content into the game."Read more of this story (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/08/17/1145233&from=rss) at Slashdot.

Do their future games have plans to let us NEXT their Pimp My Ride edition of Real World vs. Road Rules?

If not, I'm going to grab the Remote Control...

That's $500 million that could be better spent on better programming.

On all their shitty networks.

Half of the reality programming should be replaced with white noise and soft jazz music playing in the background, I know I would watch more MTV.

I wonder if that number includes the aquisition of Harmonix. Otherwise that's insanly high, it would have literally funded Gears of War 50 times over.

MTV Remote Control was the greatest game ever.

I have such hilarious memories of my friends and I watching another one of my friends playing it. He was getting so frusterated with the game and he got all into it when he did something right. And the categories were just ridiculous. XD

I'm definetly going to play that sometime over the weekend.

On a related note, it's good to hear. I am glad they are putting the money into games that deserve licenses and stuff, such as Rock Band.

They could have new episodes of Sifl & Olly for 1000 years on that budget. And cover the medical expenses to keep Liam Lynch alive the whole time.

Didn't they do this before? Viacom New Media put out a couple Beavis & Butt-head games and Zoop, and then folded.

I don't see this going anywhere.

They should have invested all that money into brain surgery.

The M in MTV has lost it's meaning completely now.

Not that it had any meaning before today either. :-\
