I recently got a NES Advantage off eBay. No surprise that it came well used. I tried it out with Super C and it did pretty well, although the buttons and stick take a little bit more strength than I'm used to using with a controller (360 stick and keyboard spoiled me). Is there an "easier" to use controller for the NES that is also highly responsive and accurate (and hopefully not worth a fortune)?

Regular NES pads I've tried tend to be inaccurate, and I've already run across one no-name crapola stick (Quickshot VII, I think it was).

Also, since I have an Advantage, is there any maintenance or button-swapping I could do to make it move more easily?

I recall the NES Advantage being the best of the best of the best (sir!) when it came to NES arcade sticks.

It sounds like you either need to swap other Advantage parts or get adventurous and do an Advantage mod (new innards).

Hmm...it probably wouldn't hurt to open it up, probably...I'll ask around though.

I preferred the NES Max over the regular controllers.

But on several game, the Advantage is a godsend (the 'slow' feature comes in handy for the boss battles in Mega Man 1.)

The NES Advantage is as good as it's going to get. I'd suggest taking it apart and cleaning it - the buttons can get a little "gunky" and start to stick after 20 years or so ;)

The advantage is pretty primitive by todays standard for arcade joysticks, so don't ever expect it to compare well to what you're used to. Opening it up and cleaing it out would probably help a lot, though. My main complaint about it that the base is just too small.
