Hi all

I'm searching information about how to change game gear screen. I don't know what kind of screen I could use or if I can change the screen for a newer model.

I tried google everywhere but I couldn't find anything, if someone knows something tell me please. Thx.

You need to open it, and then you'll be able to apply pressure from the inside to unglue the original one (it goes out easily...).. and reglue a new one in place.

Edit: Oh are you talking about the actual viewing screen? It's impossible to change... it was a proprietary model made specially for the game gear, there's absolutely nothing flowing around on the web about the pinouts and everything to change the LCD screen... although there's plans about making a converter for TV output..

I see. So the only way to put another screen is from another game gear? No one sells it?

I know the tv output project but I like to play gg in its way, as a handheld. The problem is the screen is quite worned out and I think is beggining to die, I guess is getting darker, so I wanted to change.

That's correct.

The only way you could still keep the portability would be to do a mod a la "ben heckerdom (sp?)".. by cramming the GG board along with the TV output connector and plug this into a more standard small LCD screen...

With such a huge library, it's sad to see it's near impossible to enjoy our GG games without this cheapo LCD screen with major blurring as soon as there's movement... someone have to come up with a converter or something...

I recently had the TV output mod done by SegaSonicFan (Zach). He did an absolutely incredible job with it, adding RGB, Svideo, RCA, Stero out, and even a GG/SMS switch.

GG on TV RULES.
