I really like SNK Playmore making some comp US PS2 games. I have the two out there(Art of Fighting/Fatal Fury), any more coming? How many do you think they will make?

I know what you mean (keep them coming SNK). There are no more compilations officially announced, but I'm sure we'll see Fatal Fury Volume 2 sometime later this year. It's time for a Samurai Shodown compilation IMO.

Samurai Shodown compilation HELL YES! I think that SNK Playmore can make some money off of this, and I dont mind shelling $15 a whack to get these. Hell, I would pay $20. Does anyone know what SNK playmore Comps have came out in Japan already?

There's eight volumes (all under the NeoGeo Online Collection label) so far with a ninth coming out at the end of the year:
Volume 1) Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Not a compilation but the first of this collection)
2) Bakumatsu Roman: Gekkano Kenshi 1 & 2 (Last Blade 1 and 2)
3) King of Fighters Orochi Version (King of Fighters '95, '96 and '97)
4) Ryuuko no Ken: Ten-Chi-Jin (Art of Fighting, Art of Fighting 2 and Art of Fighting 3)
5) Garou Densetsu Battle Archive 1 (Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury 3 and Fatal Fury Special
6) Garou Densetsu Battle Archive 2 (Real Bout Fatal Fury, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special)
7) King of Fighters NESTS Version (King of Fighters '99, 2000 and 2001)
8) Fu'un Super Combo (Savage Reign and Kizuna Encounter)
9) World Heroes Gorgeous (World Heroes, World Heroes 2, World Heroes 2 Jet, World Heroes Perfect)

As long as they maintain the quality level of the other compilations (FF/AoF/PS2 Metal Slug/etc) then they need to keep that shit rolling. Getting arcade perfect, or in some cases superior to the arcade, versions of the games for dirt cheap makes 'em killer impulse buys.
Samurai Shodown would make a killer collection. Even if they only bundled 1-4 on there, I'd be happy (because of how much I loved part 2).
Shit, make a bundle with some the classic Neo Geo "B" games like Cyberlip, Burning Fight, Nam '75, etc and I'll snatch that up in a heartbeat, too. I've dumped more than $15 into each of those and would love to have 'em on the cheap for the PS2.

They're perfect because they're emulators. :p The only bad thing is the lack of extras.
SNK-P's website has NeoGeo Battle Colosseum as an upcoming game, so we can only hope Sony's shitty NO-2D game policy is finally gone.

SCEA never had an anti-2D policy, they just had an issue with high MSRP values on 2D games (and budget 3D games) that the majority (casual) buying crowd would pass over or ignore in the U.S. I know, it sucks, but it makes sense business wise. Too bad the U.S. in general doesn't have the same quirky tastes in videogames as Japan, then SCEA would be much more lenient.
Battle Archive Vol. 2 and the World Heroes comp. needs to come over ASAP. I could give a **** about the KoF compilations, especially the 99-01 comp featuring the three worst entries in the series (two of which already got a release on the PS2). I'd like to see Last Blade as well, but unfortunately, I've heard about emulation issues with that one. Of all the fighting comps to screw up, Playmore has to screw up the Last Blade one...

Emulated and tweaked! It is a shame that they don't give all of the games the Metal Slug 3 PS2/Xbox treatment, but as long as they're bundling a lot of stuff in there and making it either arcade perfect or better, count me in. :)

Did the PS2 release of Mark of the Wolves retain any bonuses?
I want to pay $42.99 for the Dreamcast version, but at the same time, I don't.

All I want is Mark of The Wolves, as it's my all-time 2D fighter (Second only to any Virtua Fighter game overall).
I have a CD-R of it on Dreamcast, and have been wanting an original copy forever, but I don't want to pay more than $40 for it. That, and it hurts my Dreamcast (Okay, maybe it's just the fact it's a CD-R copy, but I've read that originals also have the issue with loading all the sound effects off the GD-ROM, instead of RAM, so it has to seek all the time). Not too mention, I don't have an arcade stick for my Dreamcast, whereas I have my Hori for my PS2.

They really did have an anti-2D policy until recently...
Unless it was a big name game, tons of companies had their localization/ports denied... A good example is Aksys games and Guilty Gear XX Slash, which they tried to bring out last year, and was denied.

Yeah, to say that SCEA didn't have SOME bias against 2d games is wrong. But as a fighter fan, I am fucking Fan-freaking-tastic that we're getting more fighters from snk in cheap versions.
Also, KING OF FIGHTERS 11 is coming out! :) :) :)

I've played 3 versions of Garou(its my favorite fighting game ever). The MVS original, the Dreamcast version, and the Japanese PS2 version. Of course MVS(i would also assume AES) reigns as number one way to play. But between the 2 not outrageously priced home versions, Dreamcast is the way to play, at least it is to me. I mean, graphics seem to be spot on, gameplay is amazing, and music is pretty damn fine. People will say the PS2 version is better, but unless they fix it, then it pales in comparison to the Dreamcast version, it seems to be missing frames of animation, and I did not like the regular controller setup. Though i would imagine that would be solved with a good arcade stick.
So in that case, Dreamcast all the way. I would buy a US Ps2 copy of it for $15 though, just to have it, probably wouldn't get much play.
I would like to see the Last Blade collection come out here, as well as the 2nd Fatal Fury set, and the one with Savage Reign and Kizuna Encounter. Would most likely pick all of those up.

I used to own Garou on the Dreamcast. I sold it because I needed money. And you know what? NONE of my other games used the damn laser so much. The game looked and played perfectly, but it sounded like crap because of the constant seeking for every. single. sound. used. Voices were about a second late.
I'll take a version that loads everything to memory, even if it's missing small details, than something that won't let the laser on my DC rest at all.

Strange that everyone mentions that the DC Garou used the laser too much. My friend got it on a CD-R and we didn't have a problem. Last Blade II was another story, though.
I suppose I should rephrase my question though. Did the PS2 version retain the unlockable art bonuses? Didn't the DC version also have an arranged Soundtrack option as well?
I would look this stuff up, but I'd rather hear it straight from DP.

The World Heroes one actually did come out? I remember hearing some rumors about it, but then I didn't hear any more for a long time, so I assumed it was just rumors (since World Heroes wasn't even an SNK game afterall). Very cool that it did happen. I don't have a PS2, but I'm still glad that collection came out because the world needs more World Heroes lovin'.
Too bad they didn't include the corresponding Dream Match games on the KoF collections considering they're both better than the three storyline games that preceded them.
A Sengoku collection would be pretty nice as long as they're doing all these MVS compilations.

Actually like I said in my post volume 9 won't be out until around the end of the year (October 19th specifically). SNK has owned all ADK-related things always. ADK was making "SNK" games since the before the Neo Geo even existed, they developd Sky Soldiers and Time Soldiers as an example. World Heroes characters were even going to be in King of Fighters at one point, very very early promotional materials for King of Fighters '94 mention World Heroes and Samurai Shodown characters appearing in them.
Regardless, they put World Heroes characters in NeoGeo Battle Colosseum. :D
I suppose I should rephrase my question though. Did the PS2 version retain the unlockable art bonuses? Didn't the DC version also have an arranged Soundtrack option as well?
All of the NeoGeo Online Collection releases have an option for arranged soundtrack as well as screen softening (like King of Fighters 2002 on the Dreamcast) except possibly for Garou so they all look as good as they possibly can without being a Neo Geo cartridge.
King of Fighters '94, '98 and 2002 didn't get NeoGeo Online Collection releases because they already came out with online capabilities for the PS2 as separate ports ('94 coming out with high resolution filtered graphics under the name King of Fighters '94 Re-Bout and '98's Dreamcast port is getting an improved release for the PS2 at the end of the year).

I agree with the thread the SNK comps kick ass. Probably six months ago I picked up Metal Slug 4/5 and loved it. So two days ago I decided to pick up Metal Slug: Anthology. Which rocks just as equally as the Metal Slug 4/5 comp. So KEEP IT COMIN' SNK! Also I would love to see more good Sega Genesis comps. I have The Sega Geneis Collection and it's my favorite comp out to date.
