No love for the working designs saturn games? Albert odyssey, magic knight rayearth were both great (just finished them) dark savior wasn't all bad either. Saturn had few RPGs but they were solid ones!

Here my cute list of generally unknown/underrated action RPGs:
-Popful Mail (I especially like the PC Engine version)
-The Legend of Xanadu 1-2 (like Ys)
-Grandstream Saga (spiritual successor to Soulblazer, Illusion of Time, Terranigma)
-Super Hydlide (more akin to western A-RPGs, best music on Genesis)
-Radia Senki (excellent late Famicom title)
-Sylvan Tale (Zelda goodness on the Game Gear)
-Magicoal (magnificent soundtrack, as to be expected from a PC Engine CD game)

Just curious: what makes Landstalker better than Zelda III?

The better atmosphere and graphics...and most of all the awesome dungeon-design, that is really the point where Landstalker was unmatched in it´s day and age. I´d say it is my favourite MD-game.

Can't wait to play Alundra though, heard nothing but great things about this game. Treasures of the Deep I got because I played it in a demo years ago and loved it. Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus I had to get because me and my wife would play this all the time. Been going through other threads to give me a heads up of what's out there. Still looking for any recommendations but I think my next game I get might be Lunar. Looks fun and the battle system should be quite nice, not action but I will give a turn based game a shot.

It should also be said that Landstalker has way more interesting and funny characters than ALTTP. The only gripes I have with it really are the lack of a shadow underneath Nigel and how you always hit a wall if you stand next one while attacking an enemy, canceling the attack.

Anyway I love the Monster World/Wonder Boy series, especially Dragon's Trap (MW2) and Monster World IV.
