I normally don't take much into consideration of video game magazine reviews but its hilarious when a magazine dedicated to Playstation games admits Sony's entire Triple-A First-Party Fall line-up is shittastic.
Here's the scans:

At least they're giving an honest review. Sorry PS3 owners, the wait for the payoff continues. I honestly thought Lair had a shot being done by Factor 5 and all. Play giving Lair a 9? Who smells a fluff piece besides me?
Linky no worky. It's not just you GoTaS :)

That can't be good for sony, or ps3 owners and just makes me wanna hold off some more
Ouch.
Oh and if anybody has trouble with the pages, just hit reload. That worked for me.

Same here. $500.00 to play maybe 3-5 games just isn't too appealing at this point. Like many I have really enjoyed the ps1 and ps2 over the past decade and wanted to make the transition into the ps3, but the choice of going with sony just isn't as clear cut as it use to be.
I may hold out one more year and then make a choice. Now nearing the 2nd year of the 360's release its starting to hit its stride. Hopefully the ps3 will do similar by the end of 08.

Warhawk is basicly a pure online game and the servers arent up yet, so this review must be based on LAN play. Unless there were like 20-30 people on that LAN all reviewing (which i doubt) i can understand why they only give it 6.5. They should have waited with the review and tested it online too.

Sweet, good job trying to hotlink goon hosting.
Too bad the scans are in too low of a resolution to actually read anything other than the score. I guess I'm in the minority that finds it more interesting in finding out what the reviewer liked and didn't like instead of just looking at a meaningless number.

Factor 5 getting a 5.0 out of 10.0 isn't so hard to believe if you've ever played Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.
I still have high hopes for Warhawk. People who played the beta loved it. I just don't think anyone else is going to be online. People who have read the review say the low score is apparently due to the game not having any sort of bots. You either find people online to play with or you don't get to play at all. Kind of risky for a PS3 game with such a low console install base. I don't feel like paying $60 for an online-only game that turns into a ghost town after a few weeks.

You can get it through PSN also for $40 :) But its indeed alittle risky to make a pure online game (well.. it has LAN too) game like this. The beta seemed fairly popular so i dont think it wont be a problem to play Warhawk online and find enough players.

According to gamestats.com, the reviewers at EGM gave Lair a 6.0, 5.5, and 5.0 out of 10. According to metacritic.com, the reviewers at GamePro gave it a 75 out of 100.
Factor 5 getting a 5.0 out of 10.0 isn't so hard to believe if you've ever played Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.
According to gamestats.com and metacritic.com, Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike for GameCube received a 7.6 out of 10 overall.

Yeah, but compared to Rogue Squadron II, Rogue Squadron III was a piece of shit. II is one of my all-time favorite GC games, and it should be in any GC library.

QFT.
Rogue Squadron is one of my favorite all-time N64 games and RS2 is one of my favorite Gamecube games.
RS3 on the other hand is an epic failure. The 3rd person segments are absolutely wretched and practically unplayable. This was obviously apparent when the game got marked down from $49.99 to $19.99 in about 6 weeks. Almost a record for the time.

I don't know if I'm alone here, but I never thought of Lair being anything BUT mediocre.

Wasn't Lair delayed a little longer to make some improvements? They must have had a really early version... :)

Despite my anger at Warhawk being online only (The original on PSX is one of my favorite games of all-time, so you know that the 12 year wait has been rough), this still disappoints me a bit, as I wanted to try it out, and maybe enjoy it. Hm... I supposed I give it a shot anyway.
Now, speaking of old PSX games, we need a new Disruptor. Greatest. FPS. Ever. Period.

It's simple to understand. How are bad to average scores biased? If the reveiwers did fluff it up then Lair must be meh and Warhawk a true turd of Gundam Crossfire proportions! O_O

About the rating, IGN game Warhawk 8.8 and Gameinformer gave it 8.25. Shows how big the opinion about games can be (i'm comparing to the 6.5 the magazine in the first post gave).

I was hoping that they would make it more like Panzer Dragoon, but I guess it just isn't going to happen....

Actually it was delayed due to ESRB reasons. They wanted a T for TEEN and had to tone down some stuff to get it. Basically, they had to keep reworking the game over and over to get a T rating.
I've heard that what basically kills Lair are the controls. I've heard the graphics are fantastic and the music is stunning (especially if you have a receiver that can handle the new 7.1 lossless sound). But the controls are horrible, and the gameplay extremely tedious, at least that seems to be the general consensus among the early reviews. To bad, I thought it might be a fun game. I'm still prolly going to rent it, just to make sure.
As for Warhawk, I've heard nothing but good things about that game, but it's not really my style of game, so I'm going to have to pass. That, and the crappy DRM policies they have with that game. Supposedly, if somebody had two PS3 systems, and downloaded Warhawk to both systems, they would have to wait 24 hours between playing it on one system and then switching to the other system. This is a new DRM policy that just was implemented for this game. On Super Stardust HD and Calling all Cars, it wasn't like that. Personally, I think that's bush league.
Right now, the only games on PS3 that I'm really interested in, are Ratchet and Uncharted. I'll certainly check out Unreal Tourney III and Haze, but all the multiplatform stuff will be superior on 360, save Burnout Paradise which is actually a PS3 lead sku game. (of course, that game ain't coming till March 2008, so it doesn't really matter anyways)

While I agree that it's pretty crappy they didn't include a single player campaign for Warhawk, I will also admit it is one damn fine online game.
The game is really fun. The graphics are great and there is NO lag. The game is alot like Battlefront, the respawn timer even looks identical, but the vehicles go much higher, lol.
I recommend getting the download over the disc, as it's $20 cheaper (if you have a headset), only 700MB download, and keeps a slot open for the disc drive so you can get some multiplayer on it then switch over to a game on the fly.
Kinda surprised the game is in Dolby Pro Logic II. I wonder if the disc version is the same....
I also heard that you have to download the game for seperate accounts though if you go the download route, but I also heard you can download it to other accounts every 24 hours, i'm not sure and don't care anyway, but beware I guess.
