Black Gameboy

I am sure that this has been discussed before, but a search turns up too many results to sort through, and none about the unit I am refering too.

I am looking for any information on the Black Original Gameboy. Not the Gameboy Pocket or the Gameboy Color, SP or DS. The Original Gameboy in the black color.

I never remember seeing them in stores. They are about 1 out of 20 listings on eBay, so they must not be too rare, but if anyone has any background on this unit it would be nice to know.

The reason I ask is because I just recently saw one in a pawn shop.

Not sure how much information is out there. It was just a colored Game Boy during their "Play it Loud" era.

I had one back in the day. It's black, with pinkish lettering. I can't imagine it being worth more than a regular GB brick.

I can't find a decent pic of the black brick, but just imagine this (http://www.simogen.com/gbp_sys.jpg) as a regular GB, and there you have it. Same color scheme and everything.

Black wasn't the only color available tho'. AFAIK all the colors that GB Pockets were available in the regular GBs were available in those colors as well. Yellow, red, green, blue, black, was there a sixth?

According to Wikipedia: Play It Loud units were manufactured in red, yellow, green, black, blue, white and clear cases.

There was also a Manchester United version.

theres something i am not seeing in the Wiki article there.

there are some limited edition toys r us brick style game boys. i have seen them and they are always too expencive when ever i see them but they do exist.

I think I have bricks in Green, Black and Clear. I've never seen another color. I'll have to keep my eye out for the others. I might have an extra color or two if anyone is looking for some or wants to trade colors.
