I'm shocked no one has talked about this on this board but n00bz and C-D release a psp unbricker.

the funny thing is we've had threads about custom firmware...guess the attitudes about the psp HB scene has shifted here.

I have two, one I update regularly and one that has an old firmware version so I can do homebrew.... I dont upgrade that one so why would I need an unbricker? It's not usefull unless your really messing around with your psp.

Not only is it an "un-bricker", but it is also a downgrader for ALL firmwares. This release is one of the biggest the "scene" has ever had.

Watch as the price of "Lumines" drops.

A lot of people have bricked their psp... this is why it is useful.

Do you have two for the reason of leaving one at 1.5 and the other to update?

Most updates have a "open edition" that can run homebrew and still get all the new features.

This is where most people brick their systems.

I find this very interesting, and i don't even own a psp yet. I'll certainly take and freebie bricked ones people wanna get rid of from now on, that's for sure.

I guess this is useful for retards who actually managed to screw up their PSPs.

It's difficult to brick a PSP if you know how to follow instructions.

I've got a 3.52 M33-4 PSP right now that is completely tricked out. I love the massive amount of homebrew and plugins that gives this PSP hundreds of times more abilities than it had stock. The easy storage of games on the memory stick is another plus. All while giving a massive "FUCK YOU" to Sony. It's quite simply perfect.

Irrational hatred of Sony? Xizer, it sure is good to see you around here again.

Meh, I personally hate the whole mod community around the PSP. Software sales for the system just fucking suck do due to all the games being able to get easily downloaded and played on the system. This is mostly referring to the illegal matters tho since some people have made some cool mods and software.

Well it is true that illegal ISOs are hurting sales, it doesn't seem that significant. PSP has very few great games which is the real problem IMO.

Well, one can arguably say that ISOs are hurting sales to the extent that it is discouraging developers to release more games for the PSP and that it is all one gigantic death spiral.

Anyway, so the idea is that the key to this unbricker involves a program that alters a PSP's battery ? How very peculiar! I gather that means that the battery itself contains firmware which for some very strange reason the PSP is capable of writing to? Or is it something else? (I'd certainly expect Sony to remove such an exploit in the slimline PSP.)

Irrational hatred of Sony? Hardly! I have plenty of good reasons to hate Sony.

-They treat their customers like shit.
-The PS3. What an abomination.
-The PS1. Somehow Sony found a way to dominate the market with a bunch of generic games, and boring turn-based RPGs stuffed with random battles.
-Sony is one of the leading four record companies in the RIAA.
-Sony's business tactics and their stance on DRM
-Disc Read Error
-Keeping the same shitty controller design in their consoles after THREE generations.
-The constant attempts to quash homebrew on the PSP, which is the only thing making that system worth owning.

That's just a few of the reasons.

I'll tell you what's hurting the PSP: The fact that the Nintendo DS has sold twice as many units. PSPs SHIPPED to retailers are currently at 25 million. Nintendo DS's SOLD to customers are at 50 million.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why developers would be more inclined to skip the PSP and head for the DS... a bigger install base combined with lower development costs.
