Diablo 2 online gaming help please!!!!!

Hey, anyone out there with any ideas as to why I can't seem to host or join a PTP game of Diablo 2? It wont let me join when my buddy hosts, and if I try to host if gives me the same IP address every time, which he cant join. I suspect the problem is on my end, with my ports or some such thing. I don't think I have a firewall, but I suppose it's possible, a friend set up my cable intranet in the house.


I am clueless when it comes to this stuff...Does anyone have any ideas on this? Bigtime thanks in advance!

Are you using a router to connect multiple computers to a cable modem/DSL modem? If that's the case, I'll bet it's giving you an IP address starting with 10.0 or 192.168, right? Those are your internal network addresses, and the router does the work of translating TCP/IP packets so that all your computers actually just look like the router using the modem. I think you can set one of your computers as the DMZ host (whatever that means,) and you'll probably need to do that for your Diablo 2 computer, and give other players the external IP of the router, rather than the one reported in Diablo 2. I've never had to mess with any of that crud, though, so don't ask me how to do it. :-)

Dude, you nailed it, that is exactly my setup and it keeps giving me a 192.168 address. Thanks for the tip, at least I have a lead to investigate now! :D

I'm sure the router's manual will tell you how to do it, and if for some reason it doesn't, just scour the company web site for PDF manuals and such.
