For me, they just work.

But they look very pixelated, from their 240p getting upscaled to the HD resolutions by the TV itself. And worse, the TVs think the 240p consoles are 480i, so they try and deinterlace an already non-interlaced source..

For example, this is what my HDTV looks like playing Sega Genesis, both my the NTSC route, and Component Video (mod)

Notice how the component one can be mistaken for a PC running an emulator, due to the pixelation.

So you will loose the scanlines, unless you got a first gen HDTV, which could do 480i/240p natively (most did i think)

is your Genny doing component via an internal mod or are you just useing a outside RGB -> component box?

I know the majority of today's tv's dont use Rf connectors and those 3 do so that was my biggest question

Those three you listed also have AV connectors...

I have an HDTV and the following systems are hooked up to it...

NES -looks good to me (I use RCA jacks and a RCA Y Splitter for "stereo mono")
SNES- looks great too (RCA Jacks)
N64- blurry, easily the ugliest of the systems I own on an HD set- didn't remember it looking this bad on an analog set (using RCA jacks)
Gamecube- same as analog set, very crisp and nice (Monster S-Vid)
XBOX- looks and sounds awesome (component video and optical audio= progressive scan and 5.1 audio)
Dreamcast- looks great although I just got it and haven't played it but for a few minutes (via RCA jacks)
Genesis 1- tried hooking up via RF... looks like absolute shit, I'll wait to get some RCA jacks before I really play it

And I'm restating this only because it comes up often... light gun games for old systems will not work on an HD set... its best to keep an analog set around if you like to play those. I also wouldn't bother with any RF connections, because they are prone to video noise and static. Your system will look much worse connected to an HD set via these... for the record I have a Sony KV-30HS420. (30 inch Widescreen tube HDTV)

I would recommend picking up some sort of a RCA switching box... I scored one with 4 inputs at Wal-Mart for 6.00. If you start hooking up more systems you'll need one of these, to avoidturning the TV around, and hooking and unhooking cables, each time you want to play a different system.

It looks that bad on everything.. you just forgot about the awesome blurr and fog co-processors in the console, that every game uses at 100% capacity.

Even in RGB on HDTV with a upscaler, it's sorta blurry. But it does look tons better.

Does your HDTV have VGA in? If so, you have no excuse for not running the Dreamcast to it via VGA. Shit looks AWESOME.

Nope... no VGA input, just a single HDMI... I haven't really used the DC that much... I used to have one that a friend left with me, and I played Code Veronica X and that was it... so I sent it to ebay, and a month or two ago I found one on the shelf of a thrift store for 15.00. So I bought it, and don't really have but two games for it. Dino Crisis, which I had for the ps1 way back when, and a copy of Soul Caliber 2, which I had resurfaced, but still won't play correctly. So, it hasn't gotten much use yet, because I haven't found much software. I could go to ebay, I guess, but I'm looking for cheap garage sale or thrift store finds of games I already don't have on all those other systems. Hopefully it all works, because I haven't fully tested it.
