Any big name PS2 exclusives in the pipeline or has the action moved completely to the next-gen consoles? Japanese releases?

This coming holiday season will be the last big one for PS2! I honestly don't know what coming out for it, but I am sure there are some exclusives that should have everyone talking!

Don't count Sony out! Unlike most people on these forums, I am the exact opposite. I HATED the original Playstation! It was the PS2 and now the PS3 that got me hooked on Sony! Still to this day, I can't stand to play an original PS game! This is a little off topic, but I have over three hindred in my collection, all MINT and bought BRAND NEW-I play about three of them!

Well one of the main titles that I think is going to be released in Japan is the Samurai Spirits Neo Geo Online Collection. I really hope this gets released!

That reminds me of my Cd-i collecting days, never really played the games yet for about a year I collected them. Now they just sit until I get around to selling them. I am still trying to figure out why exactly I decided to collect for that system.

This might the the PS2's last big Christmas. All I know that's coming out is .hack//GU Volume 3, but there's probably some other, bigger games coming.

However, if you're like me and didn't get access to a PS2 until last year, then there are plenty of titles out there to try.

That's pretty damn sad.

Anyways, just looking at EBgames coming soon list shows that there isn't too much left. But there are some goodies (RPGs like Wild Arms 5, Fighters like NGBC and Guitar Hero 3)

At least when everyone goes to the next gen I pick up more PS2 games up for cheap :D

What can I say. I'm more of a collector of that system, than a player. Now Silent Hill I loved! The other two games are (drum roll please)....

Time Crisis and Raiden Project.

Thats it!

My PS2 collection is almost full. I have almost every PS2 game I want. All I need now is KOF XI and whatever SNK exclusives hit, a few classic compilations, and MGS3: Subsistence. And maybe the Devil May Cry Collection. But that's about it for domestic, I may import more.

Just be sure to buy all of SNK's newer compilations. Do it.

For me personally, there's the SNK games (Battle Coliseum and KoF XI. Hopefully Garou, and more compilations), and Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus.

Sadly, I've pretty much given up all hope of Yakuza 2 coming stateside. :(

There's still some life left in the PS2. Not much though.

Why did it get shit canned or something? I'm playing through YAKUZA right now actually and I'm praying it comes out before the PS2s "official" death. Did it not sell the way SEGA had hoped? Of course it should've been in Japanese language with English subs but whatever.

Last word I heard was that it was still on track for an official release in the US and in Europe. If we get boned out of it in the US, I'll be importing that son of a bitch... everyone that's played the Japanese version has stated that it's better than the first game in virtually every way, and I fucking loved the first game.

Don't crush my hopes and make me cry, damnit.

Well, Atlus is releasing tons of great games on the system... there's SNK's compilations, too. And Manhunt 2. I don't really follow the news regarding games, but I think the PS2 will probably last three more years - one and a half more with original, new titles, and the rest with budget releases of games we never got years ago, just like the PS1.

I was just wondering because there is only about 10-15 PS2 games left that I want, and I kind of want to plan things out. I really want to get my PS2 stuff set before I jump into the next gen. AKA obtain all the games I want, and beat them before I move onto either PS3 or Xbox360.

For me, the PS2 will not die for at least another year or two, since there are still dozens of games out there that I want to import from the UK, Europe, Australia and Japan.

PAL exclusives, Japanese exclusives, this system kicks ass.

I mean, have you ever played Lemmings on the PS2 using the Eyetoy? Pure, maddening fun! :P

ROFL

You know it's funny, because the last 20 or so games I've bought were PS1 games. They were Japanese exclusives, but still I enjoy the heck out of PlayStation games. I must be lame. LOL

I'm curious to see how the relationship between the Wii and the PS2 will pan out. The PS2 is close enough to the Wii graphicaly and has such a huge install base, that it must be somewhat tempting to swing Wii games over to the PS2.

I've been hoping to see Yakuza 2 come over myself. I think it's already been re-released in Japan as a bargain edition, hasn't it? I became so disillusioned about Siren 2 getting over here, I finally broke down and bought the The Best Japanese version after it became available cheap.

Wasn't Hamster bringing over budget re-released games on the PS1? I wonder if they'd bring over any of the Oretachi Geasen Zoku Sono games over on the PS2. And will we ever get to see the rest of the Taito Memories compilations? How about some of those Sega Ages 2500 Series?

I know D3 has a US branch now and we have gotten a few of the Simple 2000 games ported over, but with well over 100 titles, it'd be nice to see some more come stateside.

Raiden III finally made it over, so maybe there's still hope for Homura, Ibara, Macross, Mushihimesama, Twinklestar Sprites, Choaniki, the Saikyo Shooting Collection's or even XII Stag!

Heck, the Dreamcast's Ikaruga and Chaos Field came over on the Cube and Trizeal, Radilgy and Psyvariar made it to the PS2 in Japan, so why not give us a crack at Under Defeat, Karous, Border Down and Trigger Heart Exelica over here on the PS2?

Shoot, I'd buy 'em all over again just for the Engrish! I'm no purest! "Me ruv u rong rong time!" is the only Japanese I've learned and while it's quite useful at the massage parlors I frequent, it doesn't do much for playing Japanese games. :wink 2:

My reason for just about giving up on Yakuza 2, are because we haven't heard anything yet in regards to a USA release. Given the amount of dialogue in the game, you'd think they'd have announced a USA release at E3, and then a cast listing shortly after. I don't know.

How about some of those Sega Ages 2500 Series?

What I wouldn't do for the Phantasy Star and Phantasy Star II remakes in English. Phantasy Star II is the single greatest RPG ever made, and I NEED that remake. I'll give it probably one more year (Not getting my hopes up though), then I'll import it. Not too mention I must see the alternate ending, if you have a cleared PS save on your card.

There are still a good number of releases, though nothing too great unless you're into RPGs.

Gutiar Hero III is pretty much going to be the last BIG game for the machine, though I would expect Madden to release for it next year.

As long as it's in stores to buy, there will be games for it.

If there is a god, XII Stag will stay dead and buried in Japan. That game is a mountainous pile of shit and wouldn't be worth the $5 it'd get marked down to within a week of release in the US.

The remakes of Phantasy Star I and II are a hell of a lot nicer looking. I even like the new theme song for PS1.

LOL

Guitar Hero 3? Really? Are people really blowing their load over a game that is coming out for all three next gen platforms, and is nothing more but Guitar Hero I or II with different songs?

Really, what a fucking rip off. You people keep pulling out $50 for a new song pack. Guitar Hero 1, 2, and 3 are all the same except for different songs. Not to mention that the gimmick got old, even having a second one was stretching it.

As for Persona 3, well, it's another boring turn based RPG as if the PS2 doesn't have enough of them already. I bet it has random battles too that will artifically inflate the game's length because you will spend half of it slicing through boring, random enemy battles.

Clueless.

Question: What do you like? It seems you're always pissing and moaning about things you don't like. Is there a reason you come here? You do play video games, right?

Family Computer

No,Ryu Ga Gotoku 2 (YAKAZU 2) is not yet a greatest hits release yet. This is one of the few games left on my list, as I am waiting for the price to drop to around $20 used before I pick it up.

I also haven't picked up Shadow of the Colossus or O-kami yet.

As for fighters I want to get the Street Fighter Alpha Collection & Marvel vs Capcom 2 (so expensive right now).

After that it is merely US releases that I am after and not many at that.

He comes here with intentions to piss off other people. It's all he ever does, and it's all he's good at.

SNK has KoF XI and NGBC coming out in Q4, and they will most likely start milking the other online battle collections (minus the online feature...) for 2008. At $15, I'll buy collections of Fatal Fury, Last Blade, KoF, and World Heroes titles.

Oh yeah, Aksys Games still has Guilty Gear: Accent Core slated for a U.S. release (next month I think). That's something to look forward to.

I also haven't picked up Shadow of the Colossus or O-kami yet.

Okami would have been a hell of a lot more awesome if it was a hell of a lot shorter (thus nowhere near as repetitive and dull...large chunks of the game had "Halo Library Syndrome" or "Pretty Much The Second Half of Halo 2 Syndrome").

...but yea, you do need to get around to picking it up and playing it for yourself.

My Persona 3 won't get here for at least another 2 weeks (\m/ Free Shipping \m/), but I'm in no hurry. There's such a massive backlog of PS2 games that I need/want to play that if I played nothing but PS2 games and completed them at the rate I've been beating games for the last two years, it'd take me between 6 and 10 years to beat them all. Fucking lunacy :(

Family Computer
08-26-2007, 12:59 PM
luckily I very rarely like an RPG so I'm ok as far as beating my favorite games...no problem.

I mainly want to get a complete collection of all my favorite 2D fighters & then finally get a custom arcade stick

-Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary
-Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
-Street Fighter Alpha Collection
-Marvel vs. Capcom 2

-Last Blade Collection
-Samurai Spirits Collection (hope this makes it!!)
-Garou Mark of the Wolves

I don't like the KOF or Guilty Gear series, but damn that is a nice list of 2d classics

Yeah, I don't agree with that statement either. Persona 3 has consumed more of my free hours than any other game lately, and I'm waiting for that Growlanser Generations deluxe box to come out in September.

Just a wild prediction. The final game, or one of the final ones, will be Madden 2010 or Madden 10, whatever EA ends up calling it. I don't think Madden 09 will be the last we see of that series on the PS2.

I know it'd never happen but I'd like to see Nintendo shake things up a little bit on the message boards and in the industry by agreeing to publish a throwaway title or two on the PS2 shortly before Sony is ready to pull the plug on the system. That'd be a good laugher.

WTF FIRE PRO WRESTLING RETURNS IS GETTING A US RELEASE.

BULLSHIT, I JUST IMPORTED THAT FUCKER LIKE TWO MONTHS AGO.

This message brought to you by Capslock: Cruise Control For Cool!

Dammit, the two games I imported for my PS2 are getting US releases. I feel so ripped off.

As for Persona 3, well, it's another boring turn based RPG as if the PS2 doesn't have enough of them already. I bet it has random battles too that will artifically inflate the game's length because you will spend half of it slicing through boring, random enemy battles.

If you count being on a year (game time) time limit game inflation, then I'd really hate to see what you consider a good game. The battles are hardly random at all and you actually have to get involved with the games world in order to be successful. If anything it's the anti-RPG, since you're forced to manage your time, instead of just tanking and then easily fly through the next area.

OK ummm yea the PS2 is like sooo dead :p

If you include budget games and other games that haven't been announced yet, the PS2 still has a few good years left. The PS1 had a few decent games released before it's death and the PS2 is still going strong, so publishers will continue to release games on it.

Hopefully we'll get some obscure games (ala Raw Danger) released over here as budget titles.

If you look at the latest numbers the PS2 still outsells the PS3, and I think possibly the 360 too.

Looks like ol' Sabre has proven some of the PS2 doubters wrong. I don't hang around Kotaku or Gamespot all day for "new release info" so anyone mind telling me what this new PS2 Resident Evil title is? I must have missed any hype on that one completely.

Dude, there was a link in the post...

http://ps2.ign.com/objects/951/951224.html

It contains Code Veronica, Outbreak, and 4. Which is funny... I thought Outbreak's online servers were taken offline years ago... This has GOT to be wrong. It seems to be in the same style as their Devil May Cry set, or the GTA/Hitman/Crash sets.

No, Outbreak is still active. The jerks took down the servers for Outbreak 2, though. Totally backwards.

Oh, nothing essential for me then.

Dude, I saw the link(s) :-D but I skimmed the various lists Sabre posted and assumed the link just led to the location where he got each of these lists. Didn't know each and every game from his lists had its own individual link that was retained after he posted. With that said, I'll go back and click on those links for the games I wanna see :D

I'm interested in that RE collection (CV and RE4 is cool, but Outbreak? What the fuck) at least, and I'll keep an eye out for it. These boxsets don't cost more than $30, so we'll see.

TBA 2008 Alone in the Dark (http://ps2.ign.com/objects/949/949113.html) Atari (http://games.ign.com/objects/025/025009.html) Adventure on PS2?

This has got to be wrong as I was under the impression that this game was specifically made for the new gen systems PS3 and Xbox360.

Any more PSP to PS2 ports?

Just Syphon Filter dark mirror and Twisted metal: head on.
I hope they port metal gear solid PO and the new castlevania...
